Del Mar Forecast – Thursday, November 28, 2019

Del Mar has again cancelled a card due to rain in the forecast. Their Thanksgiving Day card has been cancelled with the stakes races being moved to Sunday. Here is the data being used to determine the cancellation in advance of the card.

ECMWF (Euro) predicted Mean Sea Level Pressure for 4am PT (12z) Today.

A low pressure system is currently south and east of Anchorage, Alaska. This low pressure system is expected to sweep across the Southwest bringing inclement weather to Southern California mid-week. Both long-range models, ECMWF (Euro) and GFS, and mid-range model, NAM, show the system coming through bringing rain all day to the Del Mar Racetrack on Thursday.

ECMWF Forecast through Friday 4am PT (12z)
GFS Forecast through Friday 4am PT (12z)
NAM Forecast through Thursday 4pm PT (00z)

Rain fall totals between the three atmospheric models, mentioned above, range from 0.75″ to a little over 1.0″. The rain is expected to start Thursday early morning and continue through the evening on Thursday.
