Gulfstream Park

5-23-20

Late P5 Trips

Race 7

1 – Public Safety

9-14-19

Trip Note:  Won the 4 across duel early. Ridden confidently into the lane. Grinding win.  2YO numbers should improve a lot between Sept. ’19 and today.

Race Note:  Restricted to MN breds.

Track Bias:  N/A

2 – Factorino

4-24-20

Trip Note:  Kept up with the fast and classy old timer Tiger Blood for a bit. Outrun into the turn and just backed up. I have no idea why this turf course was listed as firm.  Every horse should be excused for a bad effort in here…turf was cut to $h*!  New rider up that is better and more aggressive.  Will likely look to blast off and go W2W from this post.

Race Note:  Was the only horse to ever race against older – and wow what a tough older group that was!

Track Bias:  N/A

3 –Jades Gelly

1-17-20

Misc. Note:  Hard to ignore this one’s previous trainer.  But notice this was also a claim back from a very capable trainer.  Makes you feel a little better…

Trip Note:  Had a great trip at the rail, holding a loose pocket and spying a 3-across eye ball dual.  Rail through most of turn.  Leader lugged out and didn’t even have to tip out and around. Great trip, but also a very fast race and would stack up well vs. these.

Race Note:  N/A

Track Bias:  N/A

4 – R U Lucky

Entered for Main Track Only

5 – Surprise Factor

11-1-19

Trip Note:  Broke very well and clean. Eyeball duel with rail foe and was much better than that one. Kicked away in lane and clearly best.  Another that will look to move up based maturity.  Key month

Race Note: N/A

Track Bias: N/A

6 – Remaster

3-5-19

Misc. Note:  Was a first-time gelding  prior to his last race.

Trip Note:  This one was the 3rd horse on a 1L stack of four.  Not a good spot.  3W throughout.  Lunged late and just couldn’t get there.  Was likely best!  Not really worried about the trainer switch, however hard pressed to find anyone that rides that 5F turf sprints better than Tyler G.

Race Note: N/A

Track Bias:  N/A

7 – Miami Crocket

4-11-19

Trip Note:  Easily made top early.  Mildest of contests in turn and had too much in reserve.  A very good trip up front!

Race Note:  Rail horse went over the rail early and the horse that took him out essentially stopped trying.  Ended up a 6 horse race.

Track Bias:

3-5-19

Trip Note:  Stalked a 45-1 shot from outside position. Rider had that one pegged throughout. Good stretch to fight off bids from both sides.  Believe was second best to place horse.

Race Note:  N/A

Track Bias:  N/A

8 – Meyer

Entered for Main Track Only

9 – Gemo

Entered for Main Track Only

10 – Legendary Prince

4-16-20

Misc. Note:  In addition to first time turf, this one was first time blinkers off last out.

Trip Note: The rider says it all here. When was the last time you saw Maragh peek around for competition?!  Was at rail down BS and rider paused briefly.  Had speed.  Saved ground into turn, tipped out and took off after the top with very little encouragement.  Was green while blowing by leaders, changing leads over the “turf tracks.”  Very impressive!

Race Note: Pace was faster than normal.  Give a lean towards stretch runners and slight upgrade to speed.

Track Bias: N/A

11 – Masterday

No applicable note.  Has never run on turf.

Race 8

1 – Verdict Is In

Trip Note:  Pretty much a great trip trip.  Saved ground through 1st turn and BS with no ask. Around a stopper, looked loaded and then a surprising, very average stretch run.  If betting windows were open late in the turn you’d have bet….and not been close.  Strange.  I’ll likely fade.

Race Note:  Pace quickened with 2 early, quick movers in the first turn.  Closers ran 1-2-3.

Track Bias:  N/A

2 – King Leonardo

Trip Note:  Was ridden for lead and maintained rail position. Tough going after that.  Gradually was outrun and coasted in outside ⅛ pole after clear defeat.

Race Note:  Pace was very fast early.  Four or 5 horses were ridden very hard for the lead.  Closer had a big advantage.

Track Bias: N/A

3 – Bunyan’s Axe

No applicable note.  Has not raced in nearly 6 months.

Track Bias on 12-4-19:  Strong front running and strong inside bias on turf.  0 chance with this post and this running style.

4 – Graydar’s Resolve

Trip note: Had best trip of the field.  Fast pace. Open air.  Clear shot after easing out late in turn and was woeful.  His race 2 back isn’t terrible – but this one was.

Race Note: Pace was very fast early.  Four or 5 horses were ridden very hard for the lead.  Closer had a big advantage.

Track Bias on 12-4-19:  Strong front running and strong inside bias on turf.  0 chance with this post and this running style.

5 – Colin a Winner

Trip Note:  Showed speed early and no excuses thereafter.  Mils pausing late on BS and early FT but only b.c he was being outrun. Eh.

Race Note:  Pace was very fast early.  Four or 5 horses were ridden very hard for the lead.  Closer had a big advantage.

Track Bias:  N/A

6 – Mystical Moon

Trip Note:  Dueled throughout on a very fast pace and had no business sticking around.  Was a massive run.  Claimed by a guy that is winning with over 50% of his claims.  Might be hard to find your way around this one.

Race Note:  Pace was very fast early.  Four or 5 horses were ridden very hard for the lead.  Closer had a big advantage.

Track Bias:  N/A

7 – Devoted Kitten

Trip Note:  Broke best. FOund great spot early.  On BS an outer flow shuffled this one some.  Wasn’t great.  Rider was too patient in the turn, losing touch a tad.  At rail and hunting for room in the lane while moving in and out.  No doubt was BTL!

Race Note:  Pace was slower than normal and give a small upgrade to the closers in here.

Track Bias:  N/A

8 – Bold Paynter

Trip Note:  Got pushed out a bit late in the first turn.  Ended up with a wide trip the rest of the way.  4-5W down BS and through entire FT.  Impossible trip given the pace, but like Devoted Kitten more.  Might have a look underneath the verticals as a big number.

Race Note:  Pace was slower than normal and give a small upgrade to the closers in here.

Track Bias:  N/A

9 – Volubile

Misc. Note:  Was a vet scratch on May 3rd.

Trip Note: Was off 1L slow. To rail. Was clearly strong on BS.  Rider relaxed him well.  Rail until midway on the far turn and then tipped out.  2-3-4-5W from midway on FT to TOS.  Grinding stretch, barely holding at bay a speed horse and 2 deep closers.  Eh.  Overall was a great trip and rider switch a big downgrade on grass.

Race Note: Pace was fast and mid-runners ran 1-2-3.

Track Bias:  N/A

10 – Sir Seamus

Trip Note:  Very little chance with how fast they went early. Tried for lead and didn’t make the top.  Back around to stalk.  Early mover late on the BS got by this one and ‘Seamus’ had no shot after that.  Excused.  Jaramillo up will be in all out SEND mode.

Race Note:  Pace was very fast.

Track Bias:  N/A

11 – Speed Gracer

Misc. Note: Not a pattern I endorse.  Past classer up for a tag and claimed by a trainer that has dominated the claiming ranks at a track where conditioners have been known to take edges.  Dropping for 2nd consecutive race.  Not what I’m looking for.

Trip Note:  It’s so hard to throw anything out from this trainer.  This one broke 1L slow and then squeezed back.  Not a good start, but pace aplenty up front was a great thing.  As rail saving ground for the entire race thereafter.  There is nothing to like here from his recent races.

Race Note:  Pace was very fast.

Track Bias:  N/A

12 – Bluesky Kitten

Trip Note:  Was part of a 5-across group that tracked early speed.  Backed out.  If you’re looking for a positive – of the stalkers he wasn’t the worst that I’ve seen.

Race Note:  Pace was very fast early.  Four or 5 horses were ridden very hard for the lead.  Closer had a big advantage.

Track Bias:  N/A
