Woodbine Mile (G1) Preview: The highlight of the day is the CA$1 million Woodbine Mile (G1), a “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Leading the field is Naval Power, trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick. After finishing second in the Maker’s Mark Mile and Turf Classic, Naval Power returns from a four-month layoff looking to secure a win in this highly competitive race. Appleby aims for his third consecutive Woodbine Mile victory after wins with Modern Games and Master of The Seas in previous years. Naval Power’s main rival is Big Rock, a European shipper with over $1.7 million in earnings. Trained by Maurizio Guarnieri and ridden by Umberto Rispoli, Big Rock adds blinkers for this start and is poised to bounce back after a series of strong performances in top-level company. Mark Casse’s trio of Filo Di Arianna, My Boy Prince, and Win for the Money all pose legitimate threats. Filo Di Arianna is unbeaten on Woodbine turf, while My Boy Prince, the only 3-year-old in the field, looks to make his mark after a near miss in the King’s Plate.

E.P. Taylor Stakes (G1) Preview: The CA$750,000 E.P. Taylor Stakes (G1), a 1 1/4-mile turf race for fillies and mares, promises an epic showdown between Moira and Fev Rover, two of Canada’s most accomplished mares. Moira, last year’s Horse of the Year, comes into the race off a victory in the Beverly D. Stakes and seeks her first Grade 1 win. Trainer Kevin Attard has Moira in top form as she faces off against Fev Rover, who finished second to Moira in the Beverly D. and looks to defend her title in this race. John Velazquez rides Fev Rover for trainer Mark Casse. European invader Cinderella’s Dream, trained by Charlie Appleby, adds international intrigue to the field. This 3-year-old filly has been dominant in her last two U.S. starts, including the Saratoga Oaks, and looks ready to tackle older competition.

Summer Stakes (G1) Preview: The CA$500,000 Summer Stakes (G1) is a Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf qualifier, with a strong field of 2-year-olds vying for glory. Al Qudra, trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, is the morning-line favorite after an impressive win at Ascot. This son of No Nay Never is undefeated and aims to continue Godolphin’s success in this race. Dream On, trained by Mark Casse, looks to improve after finishing second in the Soaring Free Stakes, while Cairo Caper is a serious contender, having won both of his turf starts, including the Soaring Free Stakes.

Natalma Stakes (G1) Preview: The CA$500,000 Natalma Stakes (G1) is a Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf qualifier, featuring a deep and talented field of fillies. Mountain Breeze, trained by Charlie Appleby, is one of the top contenders after strong efforts in the U.K. and U.S. Christophe Clement’s Annascaul also figures to be a key player after a promising debut victory at Saratoga. Mark Casse has a significant presence in the race, entering multiple fillies, including And One More Time and Vixen.

Vigil Stakes (G3) Preview: The Grade 3 Vigil Stakes features a star sprinter in Patches O’Houlihan, who looks for his third consecutive win. Trained by Robert Tiller, Patches O’Houlihan has been in sensational form, capturing the Pink Lloyd and Bold Venture Stakes with strong performances. War Bomber, trained by Norm McKnight, provides competition after a near miss in the King Edward.

Ontario Matron Stakes (G3) Preview: The Grade 3 Ontario Matron Stakes is a competitive race for fillies and mares, led by Solo Album and Fashionably Fab. Solo Album, trained by Mark Casse, narrowly defeated Fashionably Fab in the Grade 3 Trillium and looks to extend her winning form. Elysian Field, also trained by Casse, returns after a disappointing run in the Grade 2 Canadian but remains a top contender in this race.
