Canterbury Park Analysis – Sunday, June 27th – by Howard Kravets

Key:  BF = Bad Favorite and LS = Longshot

Canterbury Park received some rain yesterday, I assume they’ll be on the turf…all picks below reflect turf racing, ignore picks in turf races if switched to the dirt.

Race 1:    2-6-5

#2 Silver Dash makes 2nd start of his 4yo season, nice improvement in debut this year, improving, should like the distance….ground-saving trip.

Race 2:    1-3-5

#1 Shinny is in blazing form for Diodoro, and figures to get a nice trip from the inside here. More competitive field than his last start, but knows where the finish line these days.

Race 3:      1-5-4

#1 Wranglered really well-spotted in this very contentious 20k-claimer. Was in good form at Will Rodgers Downs and has very fast work over the surface.

Race 4:     4-7-8     LS: 4

Pick 5 starts here……ABC selections below:

#4 Incrimination looks slow on paper and hasn’t raced in 17 months. BUT….is bred very well for the turf for a very good trainer, has worked well for this, and the field is very shaky. I’m trusting the trainer and breeding here for a possible upset.

Race 5:       2-4-7

#2 Dame Plata in good form in a race of very nice veteran males. Want someone coming from off the pace here, and only other one is #1 who is a 9yo coming off a very long layoff.

Race 6:     4-2-1

Diodoro has two in here, one a closer, and one with early speed. I’ll go with #4 Czechmight, who should get the early lead. Don’t know if he can get the distance, but other than the #8, don’t see much early speed in here. Needs a soft pace to win, one easy quarter away from the winner’s circle.

Race 7:     6-3-1    BF: 1   LS: 6

Here’s to you, Mrs. Robinson #6! Like the price, class relief, pace situation, and is in good enough form. ML fave #1 is off a very long layoff taking a suspicious drop, not my kind of horse for sure.

Race 8:     4-3-5

#4 El Tizar a nice closer in a turf sprint with a ton of speed in it. Gelding is in sharp form for Rengsdorf and just needs the right trip and hole at the correct time to win.
