Coming “off the layoff” Sunday, had a good day, 4/9 winners, 3 others 2nd, both long shot picks finished close 2nd…let’s see if we can repeat that today!
My Picks:
275: 97 – 62 – 51 Top Choice 35%, ITM 76%
Longshots: 16/48 33% Bad Favorites 14/40 35%
LS: Long Shots BF: Bad Favorites
Race 1: 6-2-5
#6 Danzig Star has a few angles I like….dropping down, best early speed, good post on outside. 0/12 horse not easy to trust, but it’s now or never for her.
Race 2: 3-1-6
Weather looks good, assume they’ll be on turf today. Always prefer tactical speed on this turf course, although not nearly as firm as it was earlier in the meet. #3 Lulumaru back to turf, where she won in her only try on the lawn. Will be up close/have the lead, toss out last on dirt with major trouble. Wire-to-wire?
Race 3: 7-4-2
Similar to Race 1, #7 La Rosa Drive has similar positives, including slight drop, cozy outside post and good early speed. Won very well last time, Diodoro has her going in the right direction.
Race 4: 3-4-2

#3 Samurai Cause the choice in a nice, tough alw. affair. First off the claim for Broberg, 4yo gelding just keeps getting better. Enough early speed signed on to enhance her closing kick, will need the right setup in this competitive field.
Race 5: 8-1-10 LS: 8
Another tough field, my Longshot of the Day is #8, Bourbon Wisdom (6-1 ML). The key for me here is the blinks on….I hope Lopez keeps this horse closer than previous starts, is in very good form, and has a chance to upset. Was wide last time and had no shot, toss that race out.
Race 6: 4-3-7
#4 Drop o’ Chocolate the most consistent of this bunch, and figures to sit a nice trip. “Steps up” from conditioned claimers to open 5k, but not really much tougher. Q will have her in the right spot at the top of the lane.
Race 7: 9-8-10
The most talented, accomplished horse racing on the card today, #9 Summer Assault will need to call on his back-class in this talented field. Wide post a concern with short run into first turn, but I trust Loveberry to will find a way to save ground. Has been working lights-out at Arlington too for this affair.
Race 8: 5-6-7
#5 Warren’s Wish looks very tough in this spot, as the best early speed a fig. two back on dirt that tower over most. Will most likely gun to the lead for Canchari and try to take them flagfall to that’s all!
Race 9 and 10 are Quarter Horse races and therefore not covered on this blog. Good luck today!
