Canterbury Park Analysis – Tuesday, June 15th – by Howard Kravets

Stats Through Week 4:

117:  38 -27-19 (32%)   ITM:  72%  BF: 9/13    LS: 6/27

Key:  BF = Bad Favorite and LS = Longshot

FYI, will not handicap/cover Races 8-10, which are Quarterhorse trial races.

Race 1:     2-3-6

#2 She’s Fire and Ice back to her favorite surface, and much better on fast dirt. With an aggressive ride by Wade, should be in a good spot early, the class if she can run back to any fast dirt figs.

Race 2:    5-6-3

#5 Bobby Boots has races on the go-back last year that are clearly good enough here, plus early speed to boot. Trust him? Absolutely not. Best horse? Most likely.

Race 3:     1-5-6

Pick 5 starts here………ABC selections:

#1 Derbys Moneymaker off the claim for Berndt and Hamilton, nice effort last time. Should show speed from the rail and hope to get the right trip. Favorite #5 takes a big, suspicious drop, very shaky as ML fave.

Race 4:     4-1-5

#4 Trade Deadline can’t be too far back, because this turf course is a highway right now due to very dry conditions in MN lately. Like the fresh face angle off layoff and coming in from Texas for Robertson. Consistent works, needs the right trip, but has a big shot.

Race 5:      2-4-6

#2 Tapsolute drops to the lowest level of his career, hope jock uses inside post to show at least a little speed. Not a fan of 3/42 lifetime on the win end, but this is a weak group and have a feeling we’ll see a strong effort in this spot.

Race 6:      4-3-7

Not a strong selection at all, but #4 Thirtyminutemass seems to have the most early speed on paper. Maybe can get loose and hang on, but big spread race here in P5 due to lack of confidence in anyone frankly.

Race 7:      2-6-7

#2 Turn the switch has a ton of class and back form on turf in Cal. last year. Claim for Robertson and back on preferred surface, has enough early speed to stay in contention, interesting.

As previously stated, Races 8-10 are Quarterhorse races, not covering those on this blog. Good luck!
