Canterbury Park Analysis – Tuesday, June 22nd – by Howard Kravets

Through Week 5 Stats:  147: 48-31-25 (33%)    BF: 9/15  LS: 8/31

On Sunday, hit with longshot Grand Slam Homerun ($10.20) and price play, 28-1 shot Love My Boss, finished a close 2nd.

TOMORROW NIGHT….BIGGEST RACING CARD FOR THE MEET, THE NORTHERN LIGHTS TURF FESTIVAL…6 STAKES WORTH MORE THAN $600K IN PURSES!!

Key:  BF = Bad Favorite and LS = Longshot

**Note….Races 6-10 are Quarterhorses and therefore will NOT be covered in this blog.

Race 1:    4-2-1

There’s so much speed in this race, gotta find someone who can at least stalk, and #4 Epic Drama is the one. Does has speed to, so should not be far off…consistent and probably not the favorite.

Race 2:     6-1-4

9yo gelding #6 Sharp Art just claimed by Broberg, will use his big-time speed from the outside, and is clearly the one to beat. Ran well last time despite finishing 3rd….was caught up in a pretty quick pace dual.

Race 3:    12-9-4

Perhaps this a bit of a guess, but #12 Creative Mind, a firster by Uncle Mo, is well-bred for his debut. Maybe better on dirt and tough post, there’s just not too many experienced runners I’m interested in, and trainer Robertson can get one ready first time out.

Race 4:      6-7-2

#6 Canterbury Gold ran much improved race 1st off the layoff with a career top 62 Beyer. I don’t expect a drop off…I think another step forward is possible, not that it’s necessary. By excellent turfer English Channel, very likely winner with the right trip.

Race 5:      9-7-4

#9 Unchaining Melody is a new acquisition for Diodoro and is coming from the best circuit compared to these, N. Cal. Has decent enough turf form, many of these look the same, so a fresh face here seems like the best idea in a very difficult race to pick a winner.

SEE YOU TOMORROW FOR A GREAT DAY OF STAKES ACTION!!
