Key: BF = Bad Favorite and LS = Longshot
** All picks below assuming races ON THE TURF.
Race 1: 1-3-2-5 6f dirt Clm 7.5k
#1 Sierrita going turf to dirt with back class in her past performances. Not a big fan of putting 8yo’s on top, but this one seems very logical. Stalk and pounce from the rail.
Race 2: 3-2-4-6 6 1/2 dirt Alw N3X
#3 Big League Benny should sit right off the speed of the fave #2 and outside horse #6. Might be better at the distance than the #2, very sharp horse for Diodoro.
Race 3: 2-6-5-1 5f turf Clm 20k
Off the turf last night (Tuesday) after two inches of rain over the weekend, I assume they’ll be on turf the rest of the week. #2 Shedialed Burreaux has more turf breeding than her main rival #6, A Roze and Wine. Shedialed out of a Street Sense mare who, although did win on the turf, ran several respectable races and her babies also ran decent on the turf too. Will let Roze have the lead and take over mid-stretch.

Race 4: 2-5-3-6 5 1/2 dirt Clm Mn-Bred 7.5k
#2 Rasmus looks best by speed figs, class, and race flow (lone speed?). Only concern is the layoff, trainer not great with that angle. If ready, he wins.
Race 5: 10-11-2-5 1mile turf MdCl 16k LS: 10
#10 Note Pad has not been seen in a while, but Berndt barn can get these ready off the layoff, is dropping from MdnSpWt (although MN-breds), and gets last year’s leading rider at this meet in Eikleberry. 8-1 ML too? I’ll take my chances. #11 Couger going to be fave, but what was his excuse last time? Might win by default here.
Race 6: 3-8-6-2 1mile dirt Clm 10k
If you toss out the last in the mud, #3 Omen of Change is very logical here for great J/T combo of Kennedy/Diodoro. Likes the distance, dropping down, and should be just off the pace. Logical and fits.
Race 7: 2-7-9-8 5f turf Oc 10k LS: 2 BF: 9
Hoping I live up to the name of the #2, Beyond Streetsmart, who has lost his last 4 races by a combined 40 lengths. But, all of those were on dirt, and this gelding has turf sprint form last year on this course. 15-1 ML seems awfully juicy, not sure we’ll get that, but double-digits very possible. Enough speed in there to set up his closing kick. Likely fave #9 Most Amusing will be laughing to the bank if he can handle turf. 1st time though on the surface and possible wide trip coming at a short price, no thanks for me.
Race 8: 6-4-2-5 6 1/2f dirt MdnCl 5k
Gotta love this game….two logical choices are the #6 Pharaoh’s Daughter, who cost a hefty $200k, and #4 Beautiful Babe, who cost a paultry $1,400. Yet they’re both here for a MdnCl, 5k, wow. Anyway…..gonna go with the Pharaoh (#6) on top, but not the strongest pick. Can either have the lead or sit off of the Babe…looks like a two-horse race on paper to end the card and closing leg of P5 and P6, good luck.
