Chris Cupples’ GP Race of the Day

Race 6 – Thursday 12th – 3 Year old Fillies      Going 7.5 on the Turf

1 (A)    Metaphysical Makes her 6th Start today and only her second time on the Grass.  The race at Kentucky Downs she ran a gutsy race on the front end after an eventful pre-race warm up.  Then made a couple of starts on the dirt  Churchill Downs with no Turf Course. Wanted the Grass in her last when it washed off, stalked a slow pace and worked hard to get the win in good time and galloped out strong.

2 ( B)    Thirty Thou Kelvin       I believe this filly is a step behind some others in here but she gets Irad aboard, an inside post and has tactical speed.  She could save ground and get a good stalking trip.

3 (A)    Scottish Symphony      Third Start today and first time on the Grass.  Made her debut in a PA Bred stakes and ran well, then broke her maiden at Woodbine in Turtle time BUT I believe she will do much better on the Turf and the barn goes to Tyler.   Working well with Webslinger who ran in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf this past year. And she is a half to G3 winner on Turf who won 3/4 Million.

4          Agua Dulce      Pletcher / Saez is enough to make this one a win candidate.  But has not impressed me and Pletcher has her working with Maidens.  Just does not scream superstar, where I think others here  are using this as a step forward.  Another I will let beat me today.

5  (C)    Mohawk Trail  Last out went to lead and gave everything she had in stretch to get the Win and galloped out well. I think will need to find a bit more to win here, and will go off at a big price.  But she was not in for the tag in the last race and did nothing wrong.

6 (B)    Pallota Sisters Most definitely could not blame anyone for making this one their top Pick.   The Sept 4th Race is complete toss, nothing went right that day.  After breaking her maiden over a soft course at Delaware shipped to Del Mar and ran a solid race in a Grade 3 beaten 3 3/4 and finished well.  But she had No Excuse just was not good enough.

7          State of Mind Shipping in from Woodbine after trying Grade 3 company, A Kitten’s Joy making her Turf debut today. Could step up on the grass, but this is another that I will risk leaving off my multirace tickets.

9  (A)   Riding Pretty   Filly has some talent, the Turf Sprint in July she had a  bad start spotted field 6/7L she made up a ton of ground running late.  Her last is was oddly run race had a rabbit out front and hand timed so hard get a good grasp on.  She did her best running the last 16th of mile and just missed.  Paco intended to be on the lead in that race but a couple others wanted it more.  Paco / Blinkers added / Not on the rail …

10        Firing Bullets   Making her 5th Start for Casse and owned by Gary Barber, having already won a stakes in Canada on the Turf and followed that up placing in another listed stakes.  Then beaten fav at Turfway. I assume Tyler got the choice between the two Casse runners.  She might burn me today, but will not be on my tickets.

11  (A) Maroon Bells   Filly was not expected to win 1st out for a barn who is 4 for 83 with first time starters in the last 5 years. She won while 3/4 wide and finished well in good time.

12        Nucci   Making her 3rd Start today and trying new things, that always leaves a reason to win. Has 5 Siblings to make it the track and all but one had a win Turf Routing along w the Dam  looks to be a great betting race if you can land on the right horse.

Hitting the ALL Button here. could be justified if you can make a ticket work.

From a betting stand Multiraces,  I will likely be tossing most of the shorter price horses.

This is a No Wager Race for myself, other than Multi Race Wagers.

Forcing myself into a top selection I will lean to the 1.

Top Pick –  1 Metaphysical

Alternate –  11 – Maroon Bells

Spread Race will be fun to watch
