Late Pick 5
Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.
Race 6 SELECTIONS: 1 – 5
#1 Miami Frank is a 4 year old colt Sired by Khozan who has a knack for narrowly losing at this level; jockey change to Tyler Gaffalione. #5 Skellig Michael didn’t have a good trip last time out at this level, he too will also get a jockey change, Irad Ortiz will take over the riding assignment.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 3 – 6
#3 Camm’s Princess drops into the non winners of three lifetime level and gets the top jockey of the meet, Irad Ortiz. # 6 Whirlwind drops down two classes and will try the All-Weather for the first time.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 6 – 7
#6 Gold Sovereign returns from a three-month layoff for trainer Chad Brown. This son of English Channel has been very good on the turf and will try the All-Weather for the first time. #7 Peak Performer is a hard closing runner for trainer Claude McGaughey that should get a good pace setup.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 6 – 2 – 8
#6 Phoebeinwonderland has been away from the races for three months and returns to attempt the All-Weather surface for the first time for trainer Wesley Ward. #2 Amande was was claimed 11 months ago and makes her return for trainer Happy Alter, jockey Irad Ortiz will be in the irons. # 8 Prism Pool Pat is in with a chance if she can improve of her last attempt, that good effort was first off the layoff.
Race 10 SELECTIONS: 2 – 6 – 1 – 7
#2 Backgammon faced tougher in a race that was taken off the turf back in November. #6 Covered in Crystal gets Lasix and blinkers as she makes her second start off a long layoff. #1 Beware of Ooh Lala will get Lasix for the first time as she makes her second career start; she won at first asking sprinting at Laurel. #7 One Sweet Girl is two for three in her career and even though she is stepping up in class, she must be respected.
