Gulfstream Park – Late Pick 5 Sequence – Saturday (January 24, 2026) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 Sequence

Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.  To be more judicious with our bankroll in 2026, I will be taking a more targeted approach in Pick 5 selections and include some win bets and doubles when the opportunities arise.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   4 – 6

#4 Layabout has absolutely thrived since moving to the barn of Patrick Biancone.  Although he hasn’t attempted the distance of 12 furlongs, he has the tenacity and running style that fits perfectly.  #6 Missed the Cut will be running second off a long layoff for trainer Bobby Dibona, he has great closing speed and should get a good trip from jockey Edgar Zayas. His odds should be favorable for a good win bet wager.

Race 10 SELECTIONS:   8 – 3 – 9 – 4

#8 Proctor Street Is a tenacious runner who has a knack to do her best regardless of distance, jockey Tyler Gaffalione stays aboard in an attempt to make it three wins in a row.   #3 Destino d’Oro does her best with pace to run at and should get another opportunity to do so just like last time out in the Tropical Park Oaks.  #9 Crevalle d’Oro has good versatility and will be coming from off the pace. Will be making her second start for trainer Jose D’Angelo; odds should make her a win bet candidate.  #4 Breath Away is also very dangerous with a sharp pace in front of her; jockey Osin Murphy will be in the saddle.

Race 11 SELECTIONS:   1

#1 Indy Bay has been away from the races for four months and returns in this competitive spot for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.   She will be the key through which we press our opinion in this sequence. She has been training well in Florida since early December and gets jockey Irad Ortiz back in the irons.

Race 12 SELECTIONS:   2 – 1

#2 Program Trading is the definition of versatility and grit.  He is one that we cannot get away from and if the field wasn’t so large and at a track that he has never run at before could very well be a single.  #1 Test Score checks all the boxes for a runner to get to the line first in a big full competitive field like we have for today’s 12th race, the inside post should not be a problem for him, and I like the reunion with jockey Manny Franco.

Race 13 SELECTIONS:   7 – 5 – 11

#7 Tappan Street will need to improve off of his comeback race last time out but is a presser in a race with lots of early unproven speed, has shown his ability to get the distance.  #5 Skippylongstocking is a sink or swim contender on his ability to press and pounce; at this price point we should get on Pegasus day; I like the value he presents.  #11 White Abarrio has not been able to get back to the races since August although he has tried. His recent form, scratches, and workout suggest that he is not ready, but his affinity for Gulfstream Park and his potential to come from the clouds are factors that tip the scale slightly to include.

Today’s pick 5 ticket .50 base (pre scratches) :  4,6 / 3,4,8,9 / 1 / 1,2 / 7,5,11  cost:  $24

Race 9:                   $20 Win on the 6 cost: $ 20

Race 9:                   $5 Double 4-6 with 8-9   cost: $20

Race 10:                 $10 Win on the 9 cost $10
