Import Analysis – Made In Italy (Belmont; 10/6/2021) – by Steven Bonnick

Made In Italy – Belmont – Race 7 – 10/6/2021 – 92K Allowance (10 furlongs on turf) – 4-year-old filly by Mukhhadram out of Delicatezza, formerly trained by Marco Botti. A talented filly who has won two of her eight starts to date, both on synthetic surfaces. Handles turf fine, however, and arguably ran her best race on that surface when finishing a length third in the Group 2 Italian Oaks. Got bogged down on bad ground next time but returned to winning ways on her penultimate start over Newcastle’s straight mile, travelling well and winning with a little up her sleeve off a mark of 95. She subsequently ran an excellent race against the flow on her most recent start in Listed company at Kempton, having little hope from her position but running on well into fifth late, clocking the best final 3f splits. It’s hard to truly weight up her achievements relative to the rest of the field here – and she will probably need a bit of luck from her draw given her running style – but there is a paucity of Stakes-level form on show and I wouldn’t put anyone off if the 8/1 Morning Line odds materialise.
