Trip Notes – Recent performances that deserve an asterisk. All others: trust the past-performances.

Race 1: Claiming 12.5k, 3YO (F), 6 Furlongs, Dirt
Other notes:

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #1 KNICKOLETTA was in a little tight at the start last time, but it made no real difference to her trip/the result. Needs more today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Even with the help of a speed bias and a determined attitude, #2 NO MO MUFFINS was unable to stay the mile distance in her last race. She should be more effective cut back to 6F today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prior to romping by 10L last time, seemingly with something in hand, #3 STYLISH GEM had run an upgradable race two-back (closed over a speed bias track).

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  There was a speed bias present at Tampa when #4 SHEโ€™S A GOOD GIRL last ranโ€ฆ after breaking erratically and slowly, she was therefore left racing against the bias while wide, both of which are factors that may have contributed to her heavy defeat. However, neither factor fully explains why she ran quite so far below par, and sheโ€™ll still need to bounce back today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Exiting the same race as #2 NO MO MUFFINS, #5 YES PICNIC could also be suited by the cutback in distance today. She was struggling a long way from home in that last mile event, though, and well beaten by โ€˜NMMโ€™, so will need more.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  With blinkers added, after swinging wider than ideal into the lane, #6 SHENADOAH SUNRISE stayed on very well through the lane last time and could now be seen to even better effect with an extra 1/16 to work with today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #7 ONLY MARIA was racing against a speed bias over a mile last time. She may be able to get back on track today as she returns to sprinting on a fast track, this time with lasix on.

Race 2: Claiming 12.5k, 3YO+ (F), 6 Furlongs, Dirt
Other notes: ย

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #1 INSTAGRAND GIRL failed to switch leads when returning from a layoff last time. In the same race, after swinging 4W, #6 BONDโ€™S BELLE stayed on in the lane, just failed to catch INSTAGRAND GIRL by a nose, then galloped out in front of that foeโ€ฆ worth noting considering thereโ€™s an extra 1/16 to get today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Despite a tardy start, there was no real visible reason as to why #2 PERUGIA ran below market expectations last time. Blinkers now go on as she drops in class.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #3 DREAM LEADER had to check off heels when things got a little dicey entering the first turn of her last race, and she then failed to do any running thereafter before sitting on the sidelines for 79 days since. Wonder whether the first turn interference contributed to her poor effort and subsequent layoff, because her effort was way below her par? (Was she struck into or something similar?). Blinkers off today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #6 ESTOCADA was able to set comfortable fractions over a heavily speed biased track when last seen (had things in her favor), but the faltered at the ยผ and was well beaten as the 1/1 fav. Something was seemingly amiss with her there and we can probably draw a line through the effort. Cuts back today while taking a huge drop off the layoff.

Race 3: Maiden Claiming 12.5k, 3-6YO, 6 Furlongs, Dirt
Other notes: ย

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  With blinkers on, #5 TWELVE NELSON sped through fast fractions and then stopped on the turn before being eased through the lane last time in an effort that was way below his par. While there was no real visible excuse for his disappointing effort, you have to think that it was linked to the fact connection are now taking the blinkers back off today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #6 RAILROAD INN was shuffled back a little passing the ยพ pole last time, but we canโ€™t use that as an excuse for his subpar effort โ€“ he underperformed and will need more cut back in trip today.

Race 4: Starter Allowance: 7.5K, 3YO+ (F), 6 Furlongs, Dirt
Other notes:

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prior to dead-heating for the win under a strong ride last time, #2 BOOK OF WISDOM had run an upgradable race at Aqueduct, rallying against a speed bias while wide.

Race 5: Claiming 12.5k, 3YO+, 1 Mile, Dirt
Horse Race Trip Note
#11 LUCKED IN Claiming 12k, 1M, LRL, Fast Dirt, 03/21/26 โ€“ 3rd 4-5W chasing even pace first turn; ridden passing ยฝ but remained well back; raced 4W to ~5/16, then floated 5W into the lane before rallying into 3rd. He closed from last into just an even pace that held fairly well, despite losing ground racing wide on both turns. Heโ€™s deserving of a small UPGRADE for this effort. A stronger pace today around one turn (where he seems to thrive) could see him improve on this try.
Other notes:

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #2 FREEDOM MAKER was promoted to first at Penn National 22-days ago after the first past the post floated him ~5W off the home turn, forcing him to cut back inside entering the lane before launching a rally. Whether the DQ of the winner was just or not (these eyes suggest it was harsh), the interference FM suffered was not significant enough to warrant an upgrade in speed figure, and his 62 Beyer seems a fair reflection of his effort. His overall trip was fine.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #3 STRATEGIST was put in a bad position entering the first turn in his last race which forced him to check relatively hardโ€ฆ we cannot use that as an excuse for his poor showing, though โ€“ he recovered quickly and sat a good stalking trip thereafter but folded quickly on the far turn. Heโ€™ll need to bounce back today. Note: his better efforts (including just three back) have been when heโ€™s been right up on the pace earlyโ€ฆ heโ€™s failed to adopt that forward position in his last two starts, however, (not helped by drawing the rail and his aforementioned check last time) which may be the reason as to why heโ€™s underperformed the last twice?

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  There was a slight closer bias present at Penn National when #4 HOME INVASION last ran which may have contributed to his sub par effort. The other two speed horses in that race did stay on to finish 1-2, however, so itโ€™s hard to upgrade his effort. Returns off bench today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #10 DATS MY PHARAOH was caught notably wide on both turns last time, but we shouldnโ€™t use that as an excuse for his sub par effort (even if he was a 20/1 shot) โ€“ heโ€™ll need to bounce back today. Note: he again looked slightly uncomfortable in behind kickback in that last race which maybe explains why he was kept wide. An outside post and only one turn to contend with today may therefore help him get back on track.

Race 6: OC40k/N2X Allowance, 3YO+, 6 Furlongs, Dirt
Horse Race Trip Note
#9 RADICAL RIGHT Starter Allowance, 6F, LRL, Fast Dirt, 03/20/26 โ€“ 3rd Showed good speed from outside post; dueled through hot fractions (22.00, 44.93) while 2W into the lane; faced fresh challenger as he put away his sparing partner passing the 3/16, then continued trying very hard to the wire but could not fend off his fresh challenger, or the eventual winner who flew. He was only beaten by a length in this race, despite having set blistering fractions that completely favored closers (1-2 finishers were 7&6L off the pace, respectively, at first call; other pace setter tired to be beaten 10 3/4L). Heโ€™s deserving of a big PACE UPGRADE for this effort and can likely improve is rationing out his speed a little more efficiently.
Other notes: ย

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #1 PRADO ROAD was strong through the final furlong of his last race and then galloped out nicely. He seemingly won with something in hand and may be able to offer more again against todayโ€™s slightly tougher rivals.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #2 GOODBYE NOTE tends to do his best running when on the pace early, but he was not ridden to adopt that position last time, possibly explaining why he delivered a slightly below par effort. Expecting him to be sent harder today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  There was a strong speed bias present when #3 SUREMEANTOBE last ran, but it did not make any difference to his trip or the result โ€“ he was forward between horses early, the failed to keep pace on the far turn and weakened. Drops in class with lasix back on today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #4 TENEBRIS again ran in a manner to suggest 7F is beyond him last time โ€“ cutting back to 6F today should be more to his liking. Note: he was caught between horses (often unideal) on the front end for a long way in his last start too, but the pace wasnโ€™t hot and it did not negatively impact his performance.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  There was no visible reason as to why #6 NORTHERN FLAME ran below par when last seen โ€“ he looked to be trying hard but just didnโ€™t fire at all. Seeing as a layoff followed his sub-par effort, though, we can likely assume something was amiss and draw a faint line through the effort.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #7 SACRED THUNDER sat a notably wide trip around two-turns when last seen in October, but that doesnโ€™t truly explain why he underperformed as the 9/5 fav โ€“ he was well beaten. The effort was followed by a layoff, though, so maybe something was amiss? Cuts back off the bench today.

Race 7: Claiming 30k, 3YO+, 6 Furlongs, Dirt
Horse Race Trip Note
#1 ALL THE HARDWAYS Allowance, 7F, CT, Fast Dirt, 03/18/26 โ€“ 3rd Slowly into stride; chased slow pace from rear into the far turn; came under a firm ride bend; swung 4W into lane, then rallied for 3rd. Small UPGRADE for this effort as he managed to rally from last into 3rd, despite having had hardly any pace to chase (he was pace compromised and did well under the circumstances). Heโ€™ll likely need them to roll up front cut back to 6F today.
Other Notes:

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #2 SUPER ACCELERATE drifted out and brushed with a rival ~3/16 pole last time, but it didnโ€™t make any difference to his result. He also showed much more speed (after a slow break) with the blinkers on and ran in a manner to suggest that blinkers + 6F (not 7F) could bring out the best in him.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #3 PACO THE TACO MAN often does his best work when positioned close to the speed in honestly run racesโ€ฆ he did not receive those conditions last time as he broke from the rail (could not get closer than ~1-2L back), the early pace was slow, and he probably wasnโ€™t helped (in that scenario) by the speed bias present. While he may have also been slightly off color, there are possible excuses for him sub-par effort.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #4 DONโ€™T WAIT UP was a good winner last out. However, he did also receive a great trip and wonderful setup closing into a blistering pace that collapsed. We therefore shouldnโ€™t simply assume that heโ€™ll reproduce that level of form today as he was undoubtedly aided by the way the race was run (downgrade).

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #5 WAR MASTER ran too bad to be true when last seen in November and we can probably draw a faint line through that effort. He does still have things to prove off the bench now though.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #6 CUT GALSS showed a likable attitude to be beaten just 2 1/2L on the synth at Turfway last time after pressing a hot early pace (borderline pace upgrade). Note: his two-back effort โ€“ when forwardly placed in a slowly run race over a speed favoring track โ€“ needs downgrading.

Race 8: OC 55k Allowance, 3YO+, 1 Mile, Dirt
Horse Race Trip Note
#5 INDY CHARGES ON Allowance, 1M, LRL, Fast Dirt, 02/27/26 โ€“ 2nd Set pressured pace into turn; dueled through fast fractions to ~5/16; put away challenger and opened up at top of lane, then stayed on gamely but could not fend off the late closing winner. He did well to finish 2nd in this race after setting fast (23.94, 46.87) fractions that ultimately set things up well for the closers โ€“ PACE UPGRADE. He may be able to offer more again today if rationing out his speed a little more efficiently. Note: he was also running back on relatively short rest last out.
#6 J D FACOTR Allowance, 1M 70Y, PRX, Fast Dirt, 03/12/26 โ€“ 5th Broke inwards and a beat slowly from rail, then resisted kickback and climbed racing ~5L off the dueling leaders into the first turn; chased fast pace in isolated 3rd through back stretch, then lost ground racing 4-5W on the far turn before fading. He didnโ€™t do enough running in this race to warrant an upgrade, but itโ€™s worth highlighting because we may be able to toss this effort. He didnโ€™t get away from the rail draw on the muddy going, failed to adopt his preferred front running position (which he seemingly needs), strongly resented the kickback and never truly looked happy, and then underperformed after losing ground on the far turn. After an excusable defeat two-back (dueled into submission) too, it may be harsh to deduce heโ€™s lost a stepโ€ฆ heโ€™s just been up against it the last twice. If he breaks today, he could bounce right back to his best.
Other notes:

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Hate to knock the lovable veteran again, but for the second time in a row #1 CROSSLAND received an incredible pace setup over 1 1/16M last out, this time closing from 15L back into fractions of 22.65, 46.59 which unquestionably aided him in victory โ€“ downgrade. Saying that, however, it could set up well for him again today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #2 LURE HIM IN deserves a little extra credit for his game effort in defeat to Macleanโ€™s Rook at Colonial last time as he broke from the outside post as was caught 4-5W on the bend. The winner raced even wider, though, and he was still 2nd best. Seems dangerous making debut for Ness today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #3 UNION FLEET had a good setup and no real excuse last out; however, he did race on the inside through the lane which did not seem the place to be that day and may have contributed to his dull final 1/8th. Note: his rough start was inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #4 ADERO was slightly pace compromised at Parx last out as he was positioned in last behind a slow early pace. He stayed on well behind two talented individuals and ran a likable race overall.

Race 9: Claiming 16k, 3YO+, 1 1/16 Miles, Turf
Other notes:

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  #1 YOUR MISSION didnโ€™t do enough in the lane at Turfway last time to warrant an upgrade and he looked to underperform somewhat period. However, he also didnโ€™t have enough pace to close into from rear, and he was pinned very tight to the rail by a menacing foe from ~1/2 into the lane (he actually bumped off the rail at one point on the far turn). Neither factor helped his cause, and with a clean trip and a hotter pace to chase back on the grass today, he could well improve on that effort.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  There was no visible reason as to why #2 SUMMER VIBES underperformed last out โ€“ he was in a nice position passing the ยฝ, then stopped quickly on the far turn. Heโ€™ll need more shifting back to the turf today.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  After an upgradable effort two-back (held 3rd after contesting fast pace that collapsed on a closer friendly track), #4 DAIRAGO (FR) was game in victory last time; heโ€™s clearly improved for his recent gelding operation. Note: he really doesnโ€™t do a lot when he hits the front and has to be delivered at the perfect time.

–ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  We may well see an improved effort from #5 HYTECK PRINCE today because last out, in a competitive race at Gulfstream where the rails were out and speed held very well, he was positioned off the pace and wide throughout โ€“ he was never going to get involved from there.

Horses to Follow

R5: LUCKED IN (10/1 ML)

LUCKED IN has been a frustrating horse to follow of late, but he may be worth one more chance at a price in todayโ€™s fifth. He comes in off back-to-back upgradable effortsโ€”checking early before closing for second into a pace that held well on February 28, then overcoming a wide trip and no real setup to finish third last time. Heโ€™s been running better than the PPs suggest, and todayโ€™s pace scenario looks far more favorable. Back at a one-turn mileโ€”where heโ€™s 2-3-0 from six startsโ€”he also gets a valuable five-pound weight break with Vargasโ€™ allowance. At a 10/1 morning line, heโ€™s easy to overlook, but not without a chance.

R8: ADERO (6/1 ML)

Following a productive 2025 that included a win over last weekโ€™s Native Dancer Stakes winner WILD VINE and a couple of near misses behind recent G2 Carter and General George Stakes winner POINT DUME, ADERO kicked off his 2026 campaign with a solid effort at Parx last month. Likely short of peak fitness and unsuited by a slow early pace, he still gave a good account in chasing home WILD VINE and Native Dancer runner-up WARP NINE. Now making his second start of the yearโ€”and his Laurel debut for John Servis (22%, $2.01 ROI at Laurel)โ€”ADERO looks primed to step forward with plenty of pace signed on and a fast track expected. His form and figures with Lasix stack up well against this group, and at six years old, he could be poised to notch his tenth career win.
