Gulfstream – Race 6
#11 MISCHIEFFUL (12/1 ml)
Very interesting longshot here, as this Ian Wilkes firster by Into Mischief worked the fastest furlong (9.3) at the April OBS last year. She also has a pretty nice drill showing on XBTV where she worked with unraced barnmate APART OF MY CHARM back in December:
Pretty iffy stuff with limited information to go by, but I’ve backed these fastest-at-the-sale types for years with largely positive results. Win or lose, the one thing nearly all of them have in common is that they show speed, and that’s obviously what you want in maiden sprints. Perhaps even more so today, as I’m guessing the track will be sealed. I also like the fact she’s drawn outside here. Just seems imprudent to pass at the expected very-large price, given what’s stated above.
Regarding her competition, it’s very much worth noting that the Pletcher favorite ICED LATTE (5/2 ml) is coming off a heads-up gate drill with the good older allowance horse NOBLE INDY. Seems very much the horse to beat.
ThoroBredPicks record:
Win record: 24-for-85 (28% winners)
Total mutuels: $206.30 ($8.60 average win price)
