0-for-2 on Sunday, with SWEET PENELOPE (26/1 in Race 5) and EARNESTINE N HAZEL (3/1 in Race 8) each failing to hit the board. EARNESTINE N HAZEL was buried in traffic, and may be worth a look next time out.
Aqueduct – Race 5
#5 CROWDED TRADE (2/1 ml)
Not expecting this one to offer any value given the connections and the short morning line, but thought I’d pass it along anyway just in case. 3yo firster for Chad Brown comes into this race with an interesting series of drills, having worked several weeks ago with STRAFE, an older 4yo barnmate who ran second in her debut here last week (in a 4-horse field, fwiw). Following that, CROWDED TRADE went with the 5yo allowance horse PALOMITA, who came out of that drill to run second in an allowance sprint 8 days later. CROWDED TRADE’s next couple of drills came with the unimpressive 0-for-5 maiden RISK PROFILE, though it should be noted that one has run third in 4-of-5 starts. What’s more notable imo is the fact that at this point, CROWDED TRADE’s last three workmates were all older horses, which is a positive sign because (generally speaking) most trainers wouldn’t work a younger unraced horse with older barnmates (particularly in a consistent manner) unless they felt the younger horse was up to it. So with that in mind, CROWDED TRADE’s next drill came with RISK TAKING, who was last seen winning a 1 1/8-mile MSW on Dec 13. Seems like the best of the bunch here, but again, not expecting much value.
