Nick is joined by journalist and broadcaster Lydia Hislop to discuss the day’s national and global Horseracing news. They lead with the news that Matt Hancock MP, former Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and whose West Suffolk constituency includes Newmarket, has led a debate in parliament on the future and funding of horseracing, once again stressing the need for reform of the Levy to a turnover-based model and calling for the capture of Levy on bets on foreign racing. Nick and Lydia also discuss the upcoming racing at Newmarket , the recent pre-race testing regime in Ireland and lament the loss of star filly Santa Barbara. Charlotte is at Watership Down once again, this time with vet Alastair Welch, while James Willoughby’s TRC rankings rundowns concentrates on an intense battle for the title if world’s number one trainer.
