Nick Luck Daily Ep 679 – Murphy returns, with a jumps license

Tom in for Nick and joined by Newsboy of the Daily Mirror David Yates. We initially discuss the return of two-time champion flat jockey Oisin Murphy and the interesting news that he’s returning with a jumps licence. Will he have a ride in Cheltenham’s Champion Bumper on his agenda? We’re off to Melbourne to hear from Lee Mottershead at the Asian Racing Conference who has reported on BHA Chief Executive Julie Harrington’s comments. Lee and Dave gives their reaction to Cheltenham being used as a ‘shop window’ to attract new fans to the sport regarding changes to the whip rules. We have updates from Alex Hales and Gavin Sheehan re upcoming runners, or lack of given likely quick ground for the time of year. In particular the Ascot Chase could turn out to have just three or four in it. Ruth Jefferson tells us she’s yet to make a decision as to whether or not Sounds Russian runs in the Gold Cup with a return to Kelso also on his agenda. And it’s Thursday so we’ve the latest from Saudi Arabia just nine nine days out from the Saudi Cup.
