RACE 1: 5-1-3-4
As unappealing as it is to take a horse like #5 LUCKY BRODY, he is clearly the one to beat in here. His recent races against open company runners tower over the best efforts of his rivals, and he can stay close to what shapes up as a moderate pace.
RACE 2: 2-6-1-4
The main speed on paper is #2 SUDDEN IMPULSE, who is capable of getting clear early. The pace in her last start was very hot and she nearly stayed the course. This is her third start off a layoff, which also signals her best is on the way.
RACE 3: 1-2-3-5
You have to find an alternative to #2 RUNABOUT in this spot, and #1 PLAYWRIGHT offers some appeal. He was actually a bit more handy early when he raced without blinkers, and he can be close today given the lack of speed in here.
RACE 4: 2-4-5-7
#2 ACTUALIZE ran into an impressive debut winner last time out and now looks to clear the maiden ranks. He earned a Beyer speed figure last time out that would win the majority of MSW races around these parts and the firsters in here look like lesser types.
RACE 5: 2-5-6-1
#2 WATERS OF MEROM looks like she’s probably just better than what she faces here. She is unlikely to get the early lead and will have to stalk and pounce, but that is now issue given the way she’s run in the past. There’s still upside here as well.
RACE 6: 5-4-2-3
#5 DR ARDITO returned from a lengthy layoff to handily win a N1X last time out and now takes the logical class jump. This son of Liam’s Map has shown ability from the start and he’s catching the other major players in here at the right time.
RACE 7: 3-5-6-8
#3 TAMBURRO’S SOX is the one to catch in a race short on early speed. He enters off an elusive maiden win, which was earned in career start #10, but that is not to say he didn’t run well enough to win multiple times before. Look for him to get control of this race at once.
RACE 8: 5-9-10-1
#5 KEY POINT ran a bang-up race on debut last year at the Spa and now returns off a lengthy break. He could end up being any type and meets a solid, yet unspectacular field today off the bench.
