Nick Tammaro’s Aqueduct Analysis – Saturday, March 20

AQUEDUCT – 3/20/2021

RACE 1: 4-3-1

#4 KING MOONRACER is a second time starter who showed speed on debut.  He now adds blinkers and will be treated with Lasix, so there are reasons to believe he can improve with that race behind him.

RACE 2: 6-1-5

#6 PLAYWRIGHT returns on short rest for trainer Wayne Potts after getting stuck behind a slow pace on a surface where the rail was the place to be.  He has the early speed to stay close in here, and there’s precious little pace in this group.

RACE 3: 5-3-4

#5 JUST READ IT is 1-1 when treated with Lasix and 0-2 when not, so there is some concern.  But, she has the right running style for this compact field given the pace signed up, and she’ll be a square price.

RACE 4: 6-2-1

#6 SHANES PRETTY LADY has raced against the grain of the surface in two straight races.  She will now gets Lasix again, which should help her cause, and she figures to be no better than the third choice.

RACE 5: 1A-7-3

#1A CHOMBO was stuck inside on debut and then raced wide in his second start.  Neither time did he end up on the right part of the racetrack, and he now faces significantly weaker than he did in either of those outings.  The outside post should enable him to stalk and pounce.

RACE 6: 5-6-3

#5 QUICKFLASH returns off a layoff after chasing the pace and weakening against similar N1X foes when last seen in October.  This son of Flashback is 0-5 against winners, but has run races on numerous occasions that would win this thing if he runs back to those.

RACE 7: 3-5-7

#3 VICI has had things work against him in 2 of his last 3 starts and now drops in class for new trainer Rudy Rodriguez.  This barn has heated up of late and the speed this veteran possesses can be used to procure a forward early position.

RACE 8: 9-6-2

The cutback in distance for #9 PATEGORY ONE is very interesting given his performances sprinting early in his career.  He was ineffective on a wet track chasing a hot pace last time and this trip should suit him well.  His chances are only helped by the abundance of speed signed on in here too.

RACE 9: 2-3-5

#2 BLACK PANDA is a second time starter who showed real speed on debut before grudgingly giving way late.  There is little other speed in this field and that makes her the one to catch in a race where the favorites are far from inspiring.
