AQUEDUCT – 12/18/21

RACE 1: 7-6-4-5

The pedigree on #7 EARLY VOTING is quite strong in the second family.  Progeny of Gun Runner are hitting on debut at a 22% clip and this colt’s dam is a half to both Speightstown and graded stakes winner Irap. The worktab looks solid and he’s drawn well on the outside.

RACE 2: 6-2-3-7

The early double looks to be chalky with #6 SOUND MONEY a likely heavy fave in the second on the class drop.  This colt was last seen against N1X company at Parx and fits very well against lesser in this spot.  He should be moving well late on the slight cutback in distance.

RACE 3: 6-9-1A-4

The prior two efforts of #6 ST. LUKES make him clearly the one to beat.  He is a new gelding dropping in for a tag and shortening up a sixteenth of a mile.  The competition he meets here is woeful compared to what he has faced in two prior outings.

RACE 4: 2-1-5-6

The last race from #2 T LOVES A FIGHT was too bad to be believed.  There’s a case to be made that the main track that day strongly favored speed and that worked against this son of Girolamo.  He will need to step up his game to a level he hasn’t seen in a while, but you’ll get a square price here in a race with a favorite that is worth swinging against.

RACE 5: 7-2-6-10

The debut performance of #7 BOLD JOURNEY was strong enough for him to be considered a heavy favorite today.  He’s new to the care of Bill Mott off that positive unveiling and the blinkers going on should sharpen him up early.  There aren’t any firsters in here who look terribly tough on paper, so this colt looms a very likely winner.

RACE 6: 11-8-4-1

On a card where the first half looks very chalky, #11 UN OJO could be an upsetter in this spot.  He was an even fourth going long last time out at Delta Downs and now comes to NY in a new barn on a slight cutback in distance.  There’s plenty of pace in here to set up his late bid and he will be a big price.  As long as the field holds together, give him a lengthy look.

RACE 7: 3-9-4-1/1A

#3 F F ROCKET is a late runner who switches surfaces for trainer Rob Atras.  This barn has generally done well with horses going from turf to dirt and the effort he put forth two back was solid.  The rail was very good at Belmont that day and he was wide much of the way.  There’s enough pace in here to set up his late bid and he’ll offer value at the windows as well.

RACE 8: 7-6-5-9

There’s no doubt that #6 MORNING MATCHA is the one to beat.  However, #7 HOWDYOUMAKEYOURMONEY ran far better in her debut than it looks on paper.  She set a hot pace with a strong runner right on her flank before capitulating.  Since she has moved forward so much in 3 ensuing starts, you can count on her being a major player in here.

RACE 9: 12-1/1A-3-4

#12 TAPIZEARANCE was wide much of the way last time out on a day where you wanted to save ground at Belmont.  He has a good late kick and there’s more than enough pace to set up his late bid.  The price will be appealing as well in a race that’s very competitive on paper.
