AQUEDUCT – 2/12/22
RACE 1: 2-6-4-5
The debut performance from #2 MY INSPIRATION was hardly strong, but a slow break hurt his chances. He ended up making a decent late move and should improve with experience. There’s value to be had here as well.
RACE 2: 2-6-1-5
#2 GIRL OF TOSCONOVA returns off a layoff dropping in class for trainer Charlie Baker. This mare fell too far behind last time out and made only a token late move. This is a far weaker spot from a class perspective compared to what she faced last time out.
RACE 3: 2-1-4-3
If you are a believer in following track biases and betting based on how they affect performance, then #2 SEAHORSE D’ORO is for you. She was wide much of the way last time out before making a late move to round out the trifecta. The 1-2 finishers from that race came back to finish 2-3 yesterday behind a runaway winner.
RACE 4: 1A-4-2-5
#1A CARLY HUSTLE was against the grain of the racetrack last time out and made a minor late move. She can stalk the pace and pounce when ready today, but you have to take a shorter price than normal due to being part of an entry. The other half of the entry has a complementary running style.
RACE 5: 2-9-5-7
#2 GOOD IDEA is a firster by Honor Code, whose progeny hit at a 9% clip on debut. The dam here was a 4x winner and she has dropped 5 winners, so there’s plenty of pedigree. The works down in Florida look strong enough and this is a weaker than par MSW event for NY breds.
RACE 6: 2-6-8-4
#2 LONDON GOLD is a live longshot who has had early trouble in each of her last two starts. She made an early move after being steadied early last time out and should now be set for her best effort to date. A cleaner trip is in the offing, even if it might not be enough.
RACE 7: 6-4-10-5
#6 AMERICAN MONARCH has improved considerably as a 4YO since he came back with a 3rd place finish in a N1X. He was a game 2nd last time out courtesy of a soft trip and he figures to be a player from start to finish today. The public is likely to go hog wild on him though.
RACE 8: 7-5-2-1
#7 BOLD JOURNEY is the lone speed and should get control of this race early. He beat Golden Code last time out and that rival came back to wallop a field of MSW runners in his next start. Look for this son of Hard Spun to get control from the outset.
RACE 9: 3-4-7-10
#3 TRINITY TITOLI is in for a tag for the first time and gets Lasix and a weight break. This daughter of Lord Nelson has run against the grain of the track on two occasions earlier in her career and she should find this waters quite a bit more shallow. An aggressive ride would also help.
