AQUEDUCT – 2/19/22

RACE 1: 7-8-6-2

The improvement shown at second asking from #7 BOOM ROASTED was significant enough to make her the one to beat here.  She clearly preferred a dry surface and has every right to improve at third asking today.  You also need an alternative to the favorite drawn outside.

RACE 2: 3-4-1-7

While the drop on #3 UNO looks panicky given the strength of his debut and forays into stakes company, he fits well here.  He has been against the grain of the surface in two straight starts and should now be forwardly placed with the bug boy astride.  He should be popular at the claim box to boot.

RACE 3: 5-1-2

#5 COST BASIS would have probably been one of the choices in the Tom Fool here two weeks ago and now looms a heavy favorite against allowance company.  He has gotten good of late and draws favorably outside for a stalking trip.  A heavy favorite who’ll be tough to beat.

RACE 4: 7-3-8-6

#7 OH MY BELLE looms a heavy favorite in a woeful 25k maiden claimer.  She ran well enough on debut to get a second look, largely because of the horses lined up against her this afternoon.  She should have more speed after blowing the break in the unveiling.

RACE 5: 7-2-6-5

The blinkers and presence of the aggressive double bug on #7 CELINE THE QUEEN makes her the one to catch.  She has shown plenty of speed in two prior starts and faces a softer bunch this afternoon.  Look for aggressive tactics to be employed.

RACE 6: 1-3-7-5

The dry surface and a fair racetrack will help #1 LITTERBOX who had both working against him last time out.  He should be a bit more involved early today with an aggressive pilot and he gets a tidy weight break.  The price will be fair given he never garners much support at the windows.

RACE 7: 1-2-3-6

The entry here looks particularly tough, with #1 DARK MONEY the stronger of the pair.  He has good speed and should be in stalk and pounce range from the outset this afternoon.  The increased speed shown last time out only adds to the appeal.

RACE 8: 4-2-1-6

Too much went right for #2 WUDDA U THINK NOW last time out and #4 MY BOY TATE deserves top billing as a potential upsetter.  The latter was DQ’d from a win in the Say Florida Sandy last time out when he got into some trouble in mid-stretch.  He has the tactical speed to keep Wudda U Think Now honest early.

RACE 9: 2-5-4-6

Career maidens are risky in these lower level races but #2 MONDEUSE has not gotten a fair try on a dry track.  She has not shown much on dirt but did get involved in a white hot pace last time out before tiring late.  Look for her to settle and make one run on the cutback.
