AQUEDUCT – 1/1/22

RACE 1: 5-2-6-1

#5 RUNABOUT returns off a layoff for trainer Wayne Potts and was last seen finishing a game second against similar sellers. He’s in for the waiver today off the layoff and has the tactical speed to be within range from the start.  If he’s able to outlast #1 FLOWERS FOR LISA on the front end, he’s a major threat.

RACE 2: 7-1-3-2

#7 RAYMOND ROAD endured a brutal trip last time out losing ground right from the start after being checked sharply.  She wound up making a minor late move and now takes the biggest class drop in racing.  This is the proper level, and a cleaner trip will make her very tough to beat.

RACE 3: 5-1-4-2

#5 DARK MONEY becomes the top pick with the scratch of #8 MOONACHIE, even as much as he inspires no confidence fresh off a win and voided claim.  Look for him to be in position from the start as he attempts to reverse a long losing streak for Linda Rice.

RACE 4: 3-1-6-5

#3 CADEAU DE PAIX made a huge middle move last time out before flattening out late and now cuts back in distance.  This is the proper trip for this veteran daughter of Majestic Warrior, and she figures to be a square price.  The biggest concern here is her lack of willingness to win.

RACE 5: 6-7-1-4

#6 PINEAPPLE MAN is a second time starter who showed speed on debut after a subpar break from the gate.  He figures to be an active participant in the pace again today and will be a big price to boot.  He’ll have to improve to turn the tables on #1 IMPRESSIONIST.

RACE 6: 2-9-3-7

#2 SPEEDING KID has had issues winning races of late, but enters in good form on a class drop.  He was close to a hot pace last time out before flattening out late, and now figures to be in a good spot just off the early tempo again.  His trainer is currently on a horrible cold streak and that’s a major concern.

RACE 7: 9-3-2-6

#9 MORE GRAYTFUL is drawn well on the outside and figures to stalk and pounce this afternoon.  He enters off a very solid effort against open company and has a ton of back form that makes him a major player.  The presence of confirmed speed is probably the only real concern.

RACE 8: 1-7-6-8

#1 COOKE CREEK was a good second in the Nashua in early November and now returns fresh.  He was just off the pace in that affair before finishing with interest and figures to be in a similar spot today.  He has plenty of upside and has improved with each passing start.

RACE : 2-3-5-4

#2 SNICKET switches barns and surfaces and has proven to this point in her career that she is likely a better horse on dirt.  She was compromised last time out when ridden aggressively to set the table for a stablemate and now figures to be able to sit and make one run.  The price should be appealing as well.

WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 67-16-14-7     $103.60
