AQUEDUCT – 3/20/22

RACE 1: 2-1-6-4

#2 RATIONAL CHOICE is a logical heavy fave in the opener going 2nd off a layoff following a strong effort here on February 6.  He has good tactical speed and faces a weaker field this afternoon than he did when last seen.

RACE 2: 6-7-3-1

When last seen, #6 ROYAL CURRENCY was too close to a dead rail while chasing a hot pace.  She now gets blinkers and looks to get a nice trip just off the pace.  If things heat up on the front end she stands to benefit.

RACE 3: 5-3-6-7

#5 BROCKMONINOFF has been involved in hot paces in his last four starts and now gets a break with a dearth of early foot in this affair.  He has the same aggressive pilot aboard and is likely to get loose in the opening stages this afternoon.

RACE 4: 2-5-3-6

It has been a very strong meet off the claim for Jeffrey Englehart, who took #2 JERUSALEM GATES for 16k last time out.  He brings him back for 25k, which is a definite sign of confidence and he stands to get a good trip.  There’s more than enough pace to set up his late bid.

RACE 5: 1-5-6-7

#1 EFFICIENCY is a firster by Gun Runner, whose progeny hit at a 25% clip on debut.  He has a modest damside pedigree but went for a pretty penny at auction for sharp connections.  The rail is no bargain, but the experienced runners here are no prize.

RACE 6: 7-4-12-3

#7 AWESOME AARON did everything but win last time out and now seems poised to clear the maiden ranks.  He had increased tactical speed going longer and now cuts back in distance.  This trip should be absolutely ideal and he towers over his rivals on paper.

RACE 7: 4-5-7-1

#4 LIL COMMISSIONER returns off a layoff and takes a steep drop in class for high percentage connections.  He is an off the pace type who should get a great setup today given the way this race shapes up on paper.  Look for him to pounce late.

RACE 8: 7-1-2-4

#7 COUSTEAU is the one to catch from the outside in a race that’s very short on early speed.  That gives this son of Into Mischief a major advantage and trainer Linda Rice protecting him from the claim box is a positive sign.  We’ll get a square price here to boot.

RACE 9: 3-2-4-6

#3 MY BOY TATE was much the best two starts back in the Say Florida Sandy then ran into a buzz saw in the Hollie Hughes.  He can handle the mile without issue as the 2021 winner of this race and he should be in a great spot throughout just off the pace.

RACE 10: 6-2-9-1

Major class drop in play for #6 BIG Q.  That makes her the right alternative to #2 R WORKING GIRL, who is an untrustworthy speedster.  Look for Big Q to sit just off the pace and she’ll be impossible to beat if able to run back to some of her back races.
