AQUEDUCT – 11/20/21

RACE 1: 1A-2-8-9

#1A ARUBA endured a tough trip last time out when 4th in a live maiden race that yielded a 1-2 finish from the 2-3 finishers.  This gelding has the tactical speed to stay within range early, and is partnered with the seemingly capable #1 DADDY FRANK.

RACE 2: 4-11-7-6

#4 ATHENRY broke his maiden very impressively last time out and now takes a logical jump in class for Michelle Nevin.  He showed increased speed in his last two starts and that is an asset sprinting on turf.  This, however, is a race loaded with speed, and he will be best served by a patient ride.

RACE 3: 5-7-4-2

Why not #5 HEAVY ROLLER, who faces considerably weaker foes today than he did on closing day at Belmont?  This veteran is in light with the triple bug astride and should be within range of a moderate pace.  There’s value to be had here in a race that clearly lacks a standout.

RACE 4: 2-5-1-9

There is virtually nothing to go on in here, so #4 BELLESHAZZA gets a look as a second timer dropping in class.  The race she exits yielded two solid performances from also-rans on Friday’s card and the inside post should keep this one close early.  Hopefully she is ridden for some speed out of the gate.

RACE 5: 7-3-11-4

The race #7 FORT WASHINGTON comes out of on September 23 has not proven to be productive, but this is the only runner from it you want to bet.  He was wide the entire way and wound up finishing with interest.  This barn is off to a good start at the meet and he’ll be rolling late.

RACE 6: 5-3-2-7

#5 MR PHIL will be re-united with Jose Ortiz, with whom he scored 3 wins in 4 tries going back to the spring.  He is the one to catch here if he can get back to some of that early foot he possessed in those days, as there is no pace in here at all.  His last race was loaded with trouble as well.

RACE 7: 4-7-9-12

There are some things to like about #7 LABARDE, who is new to the barn of Horacio DePaz.  This stable is 3-13 over the last 5 years with new arrivals to the barn off of 61-180 day breaks ($2.89 ROI).  This colt got involved in a hot pace two back and understandably weakened.  He looms a major pace threat today at a big price.

RACE 8: 2-9-10-6

The race that #2 KAWHI ME A RIVER ran last time out would wallop this field.  He was steadied sharply on the backstretch that day while losing position, then made a strong late bid to snag the fourth place spot in a race completely dominated on the front end.  He has had two bad trips in 3 turf tries, and the lone decent one ended with a photograph.

RACE 9: 7-4-2-3

Is it possible for #7 CHANNEL CAT to be left alone on the front end in this field?  He only has one way to go and is adding blinkers today for trainer Jack Sisterson.  His best races are certainly good enough to win, and this configuration can be conducive to frontrunning types.  Look for him to come out swinging.

RACE 10: 1-9-8-3

The debut effort of #1 CATCHING CUPID was good enough to win this event rather handily.  He looms a heavy favorite, mainly because none of his rivals in here showed that they even have upside.  It would take a step back for him to be beaten.

AQUEDUCT FALL STATS: 55-14-9-5                $130.70
