RACE 1: 8-6-1/1A-7
#8 STARSHIP EMPIRE angled towards the inside of a racetrack that strongly favored outside runners last time and promptly spun his wheels. He now goes 2nd off a layoff as a new gelding against a weak field.
RACE 2: 6-5-3
#6 FOX RED is a major pace player first off a claim by Rudy Rodriguez. This son of Mineshaft followed up a solid effort in mid-December with a narrow miss against lesser and is a wire-to-wire threat in this spot.
RACE 3: 2-1-5
The trip endured by #2 EPONA’S DREAM last time out makes her the most attractive play here from a wagering perspective. She will be dangerous with a cleaner break for a barn that’s having a solid meet.
RACE 4: 2-4-6-5
#2 MOSIENKO returns off a layoff today for Linda Rice and has run faster races against better horses than her rivals in this spot. She has a versatile running style and should be a threat from start to finish.
RACE 5: 1-5-6
The struggles of late for Wayne Potts makes you skeptical of #1 HAMMERIN AAMER in this spot, but he is a good fit class-wise and from a pace perspective. The inside post is hardly ideal, but his improvement first off a claim is encouraging.
RACE 6: 2-5-8-3
#2 FROSTED BOURBON takes the biggest class drop in racing after showing some life last time out. She has drawn a cozy inside post that would be a major advantage if the same biased racetrack from yesterday is in play today.
RACE 7: 2-1-5-7
Two straight starts on wet surfaces have not allowed #2 CONFORMIST to get back to his strong debut effort. He now gets a dry strip and a chance to stalk the pace and pounce when ready.
RACE 8: 6-4-5-3
#6 UNO was away from the gate poorly last time out and put behind the eight ball, as he then had to make up ground in a race largely dominated on the front end. The stretchout to a mile figures to help his cause and you’ll get a better price today than last time.
RACE 9: 10-2-1-5
#10 BIG TONY’S GIRL is a bit more trustworthy than the morning line favorite and draws a favorable outside post. She ran an improved race last time on the class drop and Lasix looks to have helped.
