AQUEDUCT – 4/21/22

RACE 1: 2-4-6-1

#2 AMERICAN LAW looks like the one to catch in a field where he faces mainly 3YOs.  This son of Constitution was a good second last time out behind repeat winner Rational Choice, who scored in a N1X Saturday at Keeneland improved 6 Beyer Speed Figure points.  This gelding also goes 2nd off a layoff for a high percentage barn.

RACE 2: 5-4-6-2

The outside trip endured by #5 ROOSKI last time out spelled doom, and she now gets an upgrade at pilot.  She has the right kind of style for this field with the majority of the speed to her inside.  On a fair surface she is clearly the one to beat and a Pick 5 single.

RACE 3: 2-5-9-6

If pace makes the race then #2 FLOWERS FOR LISA will be tough to handle.  He is the inside speed with the aggressive double bug aboard and ran better last time than it looks on paper.  He chased the pace and stayed on gamely, rising up the class ladder following a claim 3 starts back.  This level shouldn’t be much of an issue, especially with the majority of the field coming out of the horrific 3rd race on April 1.

RACE 4: 10-6-4-3

#10 BUSTIN SHOUT switches surfaces second off a layoff for Bruce Levine and figures to be in stalk and pounce range early.  He has run turf races that make him a standout on paper here, and there are major knocks on the likely favorites.  This is a FAR tougher field than what #3 PANSTER faced when last seen in early December.

RACE 5: 8-6-3-4

#8 ROZ drops back in for a tag after chasing the pace and weakening last time out against considerably tougher.  This filly has shown very little in two prior starts, but the class relief today is far too significant to overlook.  She should be able to settle and make one run here given the cutback in distance as well.

RACE 6: 8-5-2-3

Despite only having 5 entrants, the field that #8 SOMEDAY JONES landed in last time out was MUCH tougher than what he meets today.  He made a prolonged wide move that day on a surface where the rail was the place to be all afternoon.  There’s an abundance of pace in here and that should set the table for this osn of Smarty Jones.

RACE 7: 2-3-6-1

The rail might not have been the best part of the racetrack on March 19 and #2 JAXON TRAVELER still stayed on well to check in second in the restricted Not For Love.  This son of Munnings now appears to be the one to catch, as it is hard to overlook the last effort from #3 COST BASIS.  He had a great trip and was totally empty in crunch time back on February 19.

RACE 8: 3-8-6-1

#3 KOBE’S LEGACY returns off a layoff and is back on turf.  The latest turf running line belies his actual effort, as this son of Tourist was wide the entire way before being forced out in upper stretch.  He should improve here on the drop and his odds will be appealing given the public’s penchant for betting based on the most recent running line or two.
