AQUEDUCT – 2/24/23

RACE 1: 1-5-2-3

With no real excuse as to why #2 SOURCING NETWORK underperformed last time out, #1 WINGS LIKE EAGLES is the one to beat in the opener.  She has the most speed and can use it from this inside post to get command early.  Her best races put her on par with ‘Sourcing’s debut.

RACE 2: 3-1-5-2

The chalk will be #3 GRACEFULNESS, if for no other reason than that she has not run poorly that often.  She was a respectable fourth on debut for a barn whose runners generally improve with experience.  Trainer Dave Donk also has excellent numbers stretching out maidens on dirt (16%, $3.17 ROI).

RACE 3: 1-2-4

#1 LEELOO is in good form and meets a far weaker field at this level than she did when last seen in late January.  She has the speed to utilize and get a forward early position, and her trainer is quietly having a very strong winter.  Look for her to get command early in here.

RACE 4: 5-4-6-1

#5 PREDETERMINED is a bit of a reach but has an improving pattern on Thorograph and will get some pace to run at in here.  The favorite is going to be horribly over bet for a barn that doesn’t have great numbers off of claims.  This mare has back form and gets a massive rider change to the bug boy Jason Huayas.

RACE 5: 7-4-1-5

#7 SIXWILLBERICH gets a tepid nod here given the work Tom Morley has done with horses getting lasix for the first time.  This guy is also a new gelding and should have speed to offer up on the outside with an aggressive pilot aboard.  He was in a fast paced race last time out and that took its toll right from the start.

RACE 6: 1-5-2-4

#1 ORMSTOWN appears to be training well and is kin to flashy debut winner Water’s Edge for trainer Dave Donk.  That runner eventually went on to win stakes races and this ridgling is primed to live up to that.  The competition he meets today is solid in a tougher than par NY bred MSW event.

RACE 7: 3-1/1A-2-5

#3 DANCING SOPHIA goes first off a claim following a game score last time out from just off the pace.  She has been in solid form of late and is ready to move back up in class into this starter allowance heat.  Her price should be fair in a competitive field and this is a barn that has long done well with claims.

RACE 8: 1-10-4-2

Until derailed, all aboard the ‘Jamie Ness Express’ at the Big A and #1 GLOWSITY is a passenger.  She was a smashing winner here in late January against lesser and now takes a jump in class for this white hot barn.  Her running style makes her very dangerous and the deep and competitive nature of this field will make her a decent price.
