AQUEDUCT – 4/29/23

RACE 1: 2-1-3-6

#2 SHORT SHIFT has a big dam side pedigree that includes a multiply NY bred stakes winning dam.  Progeny of Nyquist hit on debut at a 15% clip and the worktab here looks strong for the underrated barn of Dave Duggan.

RACE 2: 10-1-8

Distance is a major factor for #10 BALPOOL, who really looks to excel at the mile trip.  She was a game winner last out against overmatched rivals and now bids to make it two straight for connections that have been white hot at this meet.

RACE 3: 7-11-12-4

#7 JET SET JULIET is the main speed in this field and should be loose in the opening stages.  She set a white hot pace last time out before understandably fading and has enough dirt form to be considered a major threat here.

RACE 4: 6-2-4-7

#6 ANGELIQUE is a firster by Army Mule with a strong dam side pedigree that includes Louisiana Derby winner Wells Bayou.  The outside post is ideal and this barn has done well with progeny of Army Mule.

RACE 5: 1-12-6-11

#1 HEALING gets class relief after a poor effort when against the grain of the racetrack last time out.  He is a late running type who’ll be helped if the pace heats up, and you’ll get some value here with the low percentage connections.

RACE 6: 14-12-11-6

Trainer Jamie Ness has had success in limited opportunities in NY and has #14 MCCRAKENS GHOST here facing elders.  He was a good second last out in a lifetime best performance and now draws well outside to stalk and pounce in a race weakened by scratches.

RACE 7: 2-1/1A-4-9

#2 MO REWARDS drops in class for trainer Linda Rice.  She claimed this colt for 25k in late January and now waves the white flag three starts later.  He has to overcome the tricky inside post but his dirt form is better than that of much of this field.

RACE 8: 1-6-8-7

#1 UNCLE MOONLIGHT is likely to wire this field with the favorite out as he comes in off a solid run when 2nd behind a runaway winner.  The lead is his for the taking and his best race to date came when he dictated terms on the Belmont day undercard last year.  Look for him to get control early.

RACE 9: 3-8-1A-7

There’s no glory in taking an over bet favorite, but #3 DADS GOOD RUNNER is the one to beat as the main speed from the inside.  He has better running lines than his rivals today and is quick enough to get command early.
