BELMONT – 6/18/22

RACE 1: 3-4-2-5

#3 STORIED FELLA figures to establish early command toady in search of a victory at third asking.  He’ll get treated with Lasix for the first time and has shown ample early speed in prior tries down at Laurel.  Look for Trevor McCarthy to get him to the front at once.

RACE 2: 8-7-9-3

#8 BRAZILIONAIRE has run well against much tougher on numerous occasions, including a few times with negative pace setups.  He is in a realistic spot for his return from a layoff, and the likes of High Tide and Hilliard are not in this bunch.  An outside stalking trip is in the offing.

RACE 3: 7-6-9-11

#7 RUGGED UNION goes 2nd off a layoff and exits a troubled trip 8th where he found issues multiple times along the way.  He handled the turf without issue and should improve with that prior 2022 outing under his belt.

RACE 4: 4-2-7-6

#4 WINNING DRIVE is cutting back in distance and dropping in class for trainer Rob Atras.  He ran well last time out setting the pace before being run down late on a slow track that was kind to off the pace types.  This caliber of competition is far weaker than what he faced in that affair.

RACE 5: 3-6-2-5

#3 HOLIDAY JAZZ raced squarely against the grain of the track last time out when wide on a day where the rail was best.  She should bounce back on a fair strip here, especially if there’s a contested pace.  As far as the Pick 6 goes, you’d want to include both #2 BOSS CARA and #6 MIA BEA STAR, as the latter was against the grain of the track as well last time out.

RACE 6: 1-4-5

#1 MASEN is clearly the one to beat after crushing the field in the Seek Again last month.  He faces a small field again and should get an ideal pace stalking trip before overhauling his competition late.  This is a safe Pick 6 single, though you could use #4 PUBLIC SECTOR as a distant backup.

RACE 7: 1-8-9-4

Jockey Tyler Gaffalione had the best of intentions on #1 CREDIT EVENT last time out, but he never got a clear path and wound up getting stymied in traffic.  He now returns from a brief break in a winnable spot where he should save ground from the outset.  He was bet down to favoritism last time out based on a strong debut and should be the choice again today.

RACE 8: 7-3-6-4

#7 LASTCHANCEATGLORY is interesting coming off a short layoff after facing a robust field last time out at Oaklawn Park.  He showed some early foot that afternoon before fading late and now draws an ideal outside post from which he can stalk the pace and pounce late.  His price should be fair as well.  Use as many in the P6 as possible.

RACE 9: 4-11-5-3

#4 COTTON received a terrible ride two starts back from Eric Cancel and got into all kinds of trouble last time out.  He was shuffled out going to the turn then steadied as he tried to make a move on the inside.  This son of Twirling Candy can stay close to the pace and that gives him the jump on the deeper closers.

RACE 10: 5-10-4-2

Even though #5 REMOTE lost the rider last time out, this son of War Front is still the one to beat.  He was 3-1 last time out and should be well backed again.  He has yet to have a fair shot going long on the turf and is interesting in this spot.
