Nick Tammaro’s Belmont Analysis – Saturday, May 15

BELMONT – 5/15/2021

RACE 1: 2-4-5

#2 ALANDRA comes out of a productive race where she was up against it pace-wise and in terms of track profile.  She should be wound tighter second off the bench for Shug McGaughey.

RACE 2: 10-4-8

#10 LOULOVESTHERIVER deserves another opportunity on dirt after changing surfaces for trainer Jimmy Ryerson.  He was wide and against the grain of the track in his most recent dirt start and now has an ideal outside post position.

RACE 3: 2-7-5

#2 LOOKIN FOR TROUBLE is the one to catch from the inside as he returns from a layoff for trainer Mike Maker.  In his lone prior turf try he got involved in a wicked pace before understandably tiring late.  Look for him to take command in here at once.

RACE 4: 4-5-3

#4 STORM ADVISORY appears to be a heavy favorite worth backing given that he drops in class and faces drastically weaker foes than he has of late.  Given that his connections have already gotten “out” for their 12.5k claim, the class drop is not problematic.

RACE 5: 1-6-5

#1 RED STORM RISEN was pressed into late running tactics last time out when dragged out early, and he still finished powerfully to check in second.  He should get a solid pace to run at in here and will offer value, even as part of an entry.

RACE 6: 5-4-1

#5 SUSPENDED CAMPAIGN  faced considerably tougher in her most recent start and now goes second off a claim by the underrated Dave Duggan.  She is versatile and should be a bit more involved early with blinkers going on for the hot-riding Trevor McCarthy.

RACE 7: 10-7-11

#10 MR. BUCKLEY drops in class and faces drastically weaker than he did last time out.  The wet turf course that afternoon likely worked against him and is in a better spot in here.

RACE 8: 3-6-8-7

#3 MASTEROF THE TUNES endured a brutal trip in his lone turf try, steadying multiple times in traffic before getting boxed in late.  He is deserving of another chance in this spot and will offer value at the windows.

RACE 9: 10-5-4-2

#10 DARK STORM did the unthinkable last time out and made up real ground on a day when speed held quite well at Aqueduct.  He is going to get a pace to run at in here and should be a square price at or around 4-1.  Look for him in the waning stages of this affair.

RACE 10: 9-6-10

#9 STAR DEVINE ran a bang-up race on debut to win after breaking slowly and now looks to improve at second asking.  She should have more speed with a cleaner break from the gate, and this filly has a world of upside for a strong and underrated barn.

RACE 11: 4-9-7

#4 GIRAMONTE did everything but win last time out when 2nd beaten a head at Aqueduct.  He got bumped in upper stretch and that hurt his chances, but he took to the turf nicely and figures to improve in his third start off a layoff this afternoon.

BELMONT STATS: 120-33-20-15            $190.90
