BELMONT – 6/9/22

RACE 1: 8-10-1/1A-7

One of the options as an alternative to the entry in here is #8 FAUCIHe was 3rd last time out behind #1A ARTEMUS CITYLIMITS, and this son of Malibu Moon ran into some traffic trouble late.  He has the tactical speed to stay within range from the start and will offer some value at the windows.  OFF THE TURF: 2/2B-4-5-3

RACE 2: 3-7-8-2

#3 MILAN’S GIRL is a second time starter who debuted on Kentucky Oaks day down at Churchill Downs.  She was away from the gate poorly and wound up wide on a sloppy surface in what was likely a great learning experience.  Her effort indicates that more ground will do her no harm, and she goes the mile today.

RACE 3: 7-3-6-2

#7 SKIMS was a solid 3rd last time out in the Appalachian at Keeneland and now comes back from a layoff.  She has talent and the way she elevated her game last time out is quite encouraging.  If Flavien Prat can get the jump on some of the closers, she’ll be a major threat to score a slight upset.

RACE 4: 10-6-1-5

#10 ASYMMETRIC was a strong second last time out on a day where the rail was very strong.  He went wide the entire way and finished strongly, indicating that he’ll likely get better as a sophomore.  There’s enough pace in here to set up his late bid, and he is also getting Lasix for the first time this afternoon.

RACE 5: 2-5-4-3

#2 TALKIN PHAROAH is a second timer by American Pharoah whose dam is a half to BC Turf Sprint runner-up Lady Shipman.  He debuted at Keeneland and was bet down to 2-1 before finishing second.  The lead is likely his for the taking, barring a frontrunning gambit from a rival in this spot.  OFF THE TURF: 5-2-4-7

RACE 6: 6-5-3-1

#6 DEVIOUS DAME was a very impressive debut winner for Norm Casse and she now takes a logical jump in class.  The outside post is ideal and she can stalk and pounce from the outset under Joel Rosario.  Added ground should be no issue, but you’ll have to swallow a short price on her.

RACE 7: 1-4-2-5

The wide trip endured last time out by #1 INVESTMENTSTRATEGY hurt her chances.  The inside paths on the outer turf course that day were best, and she had no breaks along the way.  If she can get close to the pace today then that will give her an opportunity to get the jump on the deeper closers at a square price.

RACE 8: 5-7-8-6

#5 VALENZAN DAY scored on debut from just off the pace and figures to benefit from the abundance of speed in this affair.  He lures Joel Rosario and earned a speed figure that makes him strictly the one to beat this afternoon.  If the pace heats up in the opening stages, he will undoubtedly benefit.

RACE 9: 3-7-4-8

#3 MISCREANT is a second timer who ran well on debut against weaker foes.  This filly is out of a dam who was a half to GI winning turfer Chiropractor, so there’s reason to believe she’ll improve on turf.  Her tactical speed is a weapon, and trainer Jimmy Ryerson has long been better with experienced horses.
