Nick Tammaro’s Belmont Analysis – Friday, May 28th

BELMONT – 5/28/2021

RACE 1: 4-2-1-5

These races are always a guessing game and #4 PAINTERS AND POETS seems to offer the most solid foundation.  She worked :10 and 1/5 at the OBS March sale on the wrong lead and is out of a dam who was a two-time turf winner.

RACE 2: 10-1-11-3

Should he draw into the field, #10 PUBLIC INFORMATION will be saddled with a poor post position.  He is simply better than the horses in the main body of this field, and scored a facile win in a productive race back in late April.  His style decreases his vulnerability going this trip.

RACE 3: 2-1-5

The long awaited return of #2 HAPPY SAVER after months on the shelf following a breakthrough win in the Jockey Club Gold Cup.  He is liable to be a major player in this division and has found a great spot for his comeback.  There’s precious little pace signed up and he can get control at once.

RACE 4: 3-6-4

#3 THE SICARII goes second off a claim by Pat Reynolds after facing much tougher last time out.  He gets an upgrade at pilot to Joel Rosario and should be moving well late with a decent pace expected.  The best races he’s run make him competitive.

RACE 5: 9-10-8

#9 BAD GUY got into all kinds of traffic trouble last time out and wound up a competitive fourth.  He gets an upgrade at pilot and should get some pace to run at in the late stages.  The price will be fair and he’s a terrific candidate to grab some pieces late.

RACE 6: 7-2-3

#7 MALIBU MISCHIEF has made only one prior start on the turf in her 26 race career and it came as a 2YO in the Matron.  She was in proximity of a very hot pace that day and tired late, so she is deserving of another try on the weeds with the blinkers going on.  She is clearly the one to catch in here and will be a square price.

RACE 7: 8-3-2

#8 WICKED INDEED has been facing better horses and draws an ideal outside post.  He has the tactical speed to lay close early and meets a weak group for the level.

RACE 8: 4-10-11

#4 MISS TOURISTA attempted to launch the patented Joe Bravo far turn move before tiring last time out.  She passed a few rivals in a slow-paced race as the winner drew clear late.  This filly has improved with each passing start, moves to a good new barn and has the right running style for this affair.

RACE 9: 4-5-10

#4 UNCLE MO’S CAT draws Irad Ortiz, Jr. again for this engagement and should be involved in the pace from the start.  The dam here was a turf stake winner and the drop in class gets this gelding to the right level.  He figures to be a decent price to boot.

BELMONT STATS: 149-42-25-20               $244.80
