BELMONT PARK – 9/26/21

RACE 1: 2-1-3

The maiden ranks should be in the past for #2 TEKILA and she switches surfaces today.  The favorite to her inside is far from a cinch and this daughter of Liam’s Map is the right alternative.  She has the right running style and should be a major player from the outset.

RACE 2: 2-7-3-5

#2 VIKING ZIM was wide around the turn and into the stretch last time out and that was the first day of the week where saving ground was imperative.  He was claimed by Wayne Potts, who sports an 0-18 record with turf routers first off of claims, but this colt is facing a weak field here.  The blinkers going on can sharpen him up in the opening stages.

RACE 3: 1/1A-6-7-9

#1 ROGERS GINGER made a strong late bid on debut to round out the trifecta and should improve with that race behind him.  He is coupled with #1A RUDY ROD, who can get involved in the pace here, so they are a formidable duo.

RACE 4: 2-4-3

#1 SHIPSATIONAL endured a brutal trip in the Funny Cide and now gets a shot at redemption as the 3rd choice in this field.  He was steadied shortly after the start, then lost position on the turn before angling out and re-rallying.  A cleaner opening quarter will make him a major threat.

RACE 5: 7-12-6-9

#7 TIMELESS JOURNEY is a late runner who’ll get some pace to run at here.  She was compromised by a slow pace last time out, and her two turf tries in 2021 have come against considerably tougher competition.  Look for her in the waning stages of this event.

RACE 6: 9-12-6-10

In a race that’s a complete guessing game, #9 TRINITY TITOLI is interesting as a live longshot.  She debuted against MSW company at the Spa and chased a hot pace before weakening late.  Having that experience will be beneficial and she showed enough on debut.

RACE 7: 7-2-5-8

#7 AGENT CREED was wide much of the way last time out at the Spa when you wanted to save ground, and he faced considerably tougher in his last start.  He will benefit from the drop in class, and the race this gelding ran two back was solid.  There should be enough pace to set up his late bid in here.

RACE 8: 12-7-13-8

#12 MASTEROF THE TUNES was badly compromised by a wide trip during a period of time when you had to save ground on the inner turf at the Spa.  That was also this filly’s first start in four months and she was none the worse for wear.  With a bit more racing luck she can be a serious late player at a price.

RACE 9: 4-1-2

There are reasons to be untrusting of #1 BELLA SOFIA and one of the main reasons is the presence of #4 LAKE AVENUE.  The latter ran a game race when 2nd to Gamine in the Ballerina and has clearly gotten back into form of late.  She will benefit if ‘Sofia and #2 LADY ROCKET mix it up in the early stages.

RACE 10: 9-12-2-5

#9 THEODORA GRACE drops in class and cuts back in distance after showing speed and fading last time out.  She can be a pace player today, even on the cutback and figures to be a square price at or around the 4-1 morning line.  Her outside post is ideal as well.

BELMONT FALL STATS: 66-17-9-9      $177.00
