BELMONT PARK PICK 6 ANALYSIS– 07/03/2023
RACE 4: 1-3-7-5
#1 VALENZAN DAY is clearly the one to catch from the inside post after scratches. He was re-claimed last time by Linda Rice, who is 6 for her last 13 with dirt starters first off a claim coming back off 60+ day breaks ($3.10 ROI).
RACE 5: 9-5-4-10
#9 SILENT MELODY had little go her way las time out going 9 furlongs and now shortens up in distance. She was checked along the inside multiple times in her last start and never really had a clear path late. She will benefit from the expected pace today given the number of runners stretching out in distance.
RACE 6: 4-1-5-7
#4 PINEAPPLE MAN is the one to catch today going third off a layoff after two tries against N1X competition of late. He was outrun early last time and did a modest amount of running before checking in fifth as the favorite and should now be a factor from the word go. Trainer Mike Maker’s barn has heated up here in NY of late.
RACE 7: 2-1-8-4
#2 ICE ROAD ran a hole in the wind last time out when a good second behind Fromanuthamutha, who had enjoyed a perfect trip stalking along the rail. He should get a good trip from just off the pace and should be a heavy favorite with Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard. His best races are much too good for these.
RACE 8: 5-2-4-3
#5 COLD HARD CASH is a late runner who has run very well against NY bred stakes company and figures to get a big pace setup in his first start off a layoff. He will be the biggest price of the horses who can win this race and his trainer has been on fire of late. Look for him in the late stages today.
RACE 9: 2-9-5-10
#2 SOCIAL SIDEKICK is an interesting player off the bench given he faced better competition when last seen at Gulfstream over the winter. He was away from the gate very slowly then stuck behind a deliberate pace in a field that was much tougher than what he’ll meet today. The inside post should afford him the opportunity to save ground early today.
