BELMONT PARK – 5/28/23
RACE 1: 6-2-1/1A
#6 SWEPT is a firster by Laoban who is out of a dam that scored twice as a 2YO. She produced 5 winners including multiple 2YO winners. The outside post is ideal and this is a barn that has had success with first time starters.
RACE 2: 8-2-3-4
#8 WESTERN LANE is back off a layoff in for a tag for the first time and has performed well on turf in the past. She classes up nicely in this field and gets in light with the bug boy aboard. The trip should be ideal too as she has mainly been going shorter.
RACE 3: 5-4-7-1
The most recent outing for #5 STORM SHOOTER was solid and he stays at the same class level for Linda Rice. He is quick enough in the opening stages to get the lead and will be a major threat to go the distance if able to get loose. Trainer Linda Rice’s barn continues to roll at every meet in NY.
RACE 4: 2-3-4-5
#2 VIRTUAL REALITY is a firster by Cloud Computing who worked very impressively at the OBS April sale in 2022. The dam was a one-time winner and this is her first foal to race. That purchase price really indicates how nicely she must have performed in the sale drill.
RACE 5: 4-6-1/1A-9
It might be beyond his capability, but #4 TURNSANDCONDITIONS is bred strongly for turf. He is in good form given his last outing and there’s enough pace to set up his late bid. If he can at least run back to his last he’s a threat to get top honors.
RACE 6: 6-4-2-7
#6 DUFRESNE is back on turf for Linda Rice second off a trainer change. She has good back turf form and will appreciate the move to this sprint distance. This is a particularly weak field, even for this class level.
RACE 7: 1-2-4
#1 TONAL IMPACT exits a third place finish for Linda Rice against comparable foes and now goes an additional furlong. The added distance will benefit him and the fact he can stay close to the pace helps as well. Jockey Jose Ortiz is red hot at the moment having won 4 on Saturday afternoon.
RACE 8: 5-4-3-1
#5 AGENT CREED is a late threat who will get a massive pace setup here given the way this race shapes up on paper. He has been good enough to win this at his best and has only one real rival to worry about this afternoon in #4 CATCH THAT PARTY.
RACE 9: 2-5-10-6
#2 SHOPPINGATBLOOMIES is going first off a claim by Robby Falcone, Jr. after chasing the pace and tiring late in her turf debut. She is a player here from a cozy inside post with a weight break as well. Falcone is 16% with turf routers off of claims ($1.96 ROI).
