BELMONT PARK – 6/1/23
RACE 1: 6-8-4-7
#6 SPATIAL REALITY got involved in a white hot pace last time out before tiring and should be dangerous today in a scratch reduced field that’s short on speed.
RACE 2: 6-2-4-1
#6 RHEAUME is ideally suited to distance racing and lands in a strong barn for her specialty. She was solid last year for Michael Dickinson and figures to be a strong late player this afternoon.
RACE 3: 6-4-1-3
#3 SA FORADADA is new to the care of Rick Dutrow, Jr., who has historically been at his best with new arrivals to his stable. This filly has been competitive at this level and should be a major player from start to finish.
RACE 4: 3-2-7-1
#3 DREAMPOINT gets an upgrade at pilot for Rachel Sells second off a layoff. He was an even third after chasing a hot pace last time out and the slight cutback will help his chances.
RACE 5: 6-8-5-2
#6 STRONG LIGHT is switching surfaces and getting back to dirt for a low percentage trainer. His dirt races before the surface switch make him competitive and you’re going to get a fair price here in a very wide open race.
RACE 6: 1-5-6-9
#1 SILENT MELODY will unfortunately be ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr, which kills the price but does increase her chances of winning. She was a good 4th on debut in a race run at a strong early clip. This gal got shuffled out mid-race before putting in a good late bid and should save ground from the outset.
RACE 7: 3-1-8-4
#3 BUSTIN BAY was a solid 2nd last time out behind a runaway winner and now goes 2nd off a claim by Linda Rice. This barn is rolling of late and this classy mare has had success all over NY for multiple different trainers. Her ability to stay close to the pace always helps.
RACE 8: 5-6-1-4
#5 GUN IT looked great pre-race last time out first off the claim and ran to the good looks. He’s back in search of a 4th lifetime victory and is trying turf for a barn that is 16% with runners going dirt-to-turf in sprint races ($2.12 ROI). This gelding has every right to be a threat from the start and his prior turf efforts are hardly bad.
RACE 9: 8-1-4-5
#8 ONE HEADLIGHT is an overwhelming favorite to close out the card based on his narrow miss last time out. Irad Ortiz, Jr is aboard and he likely just needs to point this one in the right direction after troubled trips dogged him in his first two.
