Race 8
#8 Awesome Charge: He ran very well at this level last time, out missing by three lengths but was a massive 23-1. with second-time improvement, he would only have to beat the #9 Megatap, who will be such a smaller price then this one will be.
A=8-6
B=12-1
Race 9
#4 Rare Form: second off, the claim for Diodoro, who didn’t win the first time out at a short price. He does get Vasquez in the saddle, which he hits at 50% with over the last two years at Oaklawn. I feel he is well placed here because The Beyer from the previous race fits well here, and not many Diodoros decline the horses Beyer back to back.
A=4-5-10
Race 10
#4 Jaxon Traveler: #4 Jaxon traveler: 3-3 and perfect so far in the career. He finally got into a hot pace last time out, and the Beyer did suffer, but he also showed he has a ton of fight in him. I love that they don’t run him back in a G3/G2, and it’s just another listed stake. Asmussen gets one of the top riders in Arrieta in the saddle. They are 2-3 together in the last two years.
A=4-5
Race 11
#4 Gaslight: He ran an ok 2nd first time out, not showing much early gas. Now Cox puts blinkers on to sharpen him up and gets the solid rider in Garcia up. One of my favorite angles is a horse that, in their first start, ran to the Beyer par.
