On the Horizon – Friday (February 05, 2021) – John Pinder

Late Pick 4 Sequence

Race 7 SELECTIONS: 2 – 7 – 12

#2 Putman  Gets some class relief and gets back to the turf after stumbled slightly at the break last time . A very consistent Gulfstream Park runner.  #7 French Reef  is a well bred Gelding who was lightly raced last year and claimed away from Chad Brown in December – He ran into early traffic last time.  Definitely a player at this level.  #12 Going for Gold has been away from the races for 12 months, but  has shown great early speed and could take this field gate to wire.

Race 8 SELECTIONS: 3 – 6

#3 Real Talk is coming back to the level where he ran last time and finished a good second.  Now he is cutting back slightly to 5.5F vs 6F, his early speed should be even more pronounced.  #6 Amersand comes back to races after a 5 month layoff, but his two races at Saratoga over the summer provided him with a top level foundation.  He won at 1st asking in the mud going 5.5 – Two weeks later he is running in the G1 Hopeful.  Cutting back to a 5.5F after putting up good workout numbers in the morning since November, I believe he should be ready to get back to it.

Race 9 SELECTIONS: 6 – 8 – 2

#6 Mai Ty One On is poised for a very good run, for several different reasons.  This gelding last won on January 15 after a 6 months layoff, although it was against a lower class rating, trainer Jane Cibelli has a good winning percentage with turf stats-2nd off layoff, so I would look for improvement as he moves back to a level that he was competitive before the break; Seaz in the irons.   #8 Yes I Am Free is also coming back second off the layoff for a turf trainer that needs no touting in Mark Casse.  Has lots of speed and should be to make it to the front group without any resistance from the runner immediately to his inside.  Lastly #2 Blind Ambition is a closer with with lots of back class that gets hall of famer Johnny V. in the saddle.  So although he is a closer only going 5F, know that he will be in good position from an opportunity to win standpoint.

Race 10 SELECTIONS:   13(AE) – 1  – 3  – 8

#13 (AE) Lease if this colt is finds his way into the starting gate he should be included.  Ran a solid second last time in a similar race at the same level.  Improvement should be looming for this Bill Mott trainee.   #1 Supplication is a runner where the current running lines are not great, but you anticipate advancement any race now.  A home bred trained by Mark Casse in his 4 attempt, who is dropping two class levels and gets hard riding Luis Saez.   #3 Gael Power is a first time starter for George Weaver, who is currently 18% with firsters over the past year; Gaffalione in the saddle.  Taking a shot with one more runner just in case our  top AE pick does not get in, #8 Command Central is dropping to the claiming ranks for the first time for trainer Dale Romans, and gets the services of front running style jockey Jaramillo.
