On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Friday(March 24, 2023) – John Pinder

Race 5 SELECTIONS:   3  –  6  –  10

#3 Both Sides showed good improvement from race one in which she debuted sprinting on the All-Weather surface, to race two where she routed on the turf; today she faces similar conditions as race two.  #6 Spun Oats has been close in both of her two career starts but the races were pace extremes, one fast one slow; should be competitive here today as well. #10 Mo Tough will be running second off the layoff for owner-trainer Rachel Halden, she has run well in all her previous starts but did not get a good start in her last.

Race 6 SELECTIONS:   1  –  3  –  7

#1 My Destiny drops in class today and has shown the ability to press and pounce, she is well traveled and seems to take her game everywhere she goes.  #3 Dem a Wonder is a speedy front running mare who will be making her second start off the layoff for owner-trainer Rohan Crichton.  #7 Your Inheritance has been very popular at the claiming box lately and has been rewarding her new connections each time; today she runs for a solid claiming trainer in Claudio Gonzalez.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   1  –  3  –  6

#1 Devil’s Cay is a lightly raced three year-old son of Good Magic who showed good early speed last time out and tired late.  That effort was first off a layoff, retains the services of jockey Paco Lopez.

#3 Big Save will be running second off the layoff for trainer David Fawkes.  He runs well in different portions of the race but has yet to put it all together, has potential.  #6 Loco Abarrio has earned the best speed figures of the participants in today’s seventh race and also has the meets leading rider, so why is he not a single?  His only off the board finish was at this distance, although it was against stronger competition.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   4  –  5  –  7

#4 Thataint Tooshabby has not been to the races for eight months but has a good recent workout tab.  #5 Demogorgon is stepping up in class but has a good versatile running style, she will be making her first start for new owner-trainer Fernando Abreu.  #7 Amazin Queen has finished close in both of her last two attempts at this level and surface, today gets a rider change to Irad Ortiz.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   1  –  6  –  10  –  12

#1 Hierro will be running second off the layoff and will be the second race for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.  He has some races at this level back in the fall that make him a serious gate to wire threat.  #6 Rhymes Like Dimes returns to the barn of Saffie Joseph Jr. after being claimed away for one race.  He ran his prototypical race which earned him a second place finish at a tougher level. #10 American Power drops in class significantly and gets blinkers.  This will be his second start off the layoff and second start for trainer Michael Maker.  #12 Small Reason has been knocking at the door in his last four attempts in and around this class level; today he will make his first start for new trainer Antonio Sano.

Let’s make it happen!!!
