Late Pick 5

Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.  – Let’s make it happen!!!

Race 5 SELECTIONS:   8  –  3  –  1  –  5

#8 Tiz Impressive is dropping in class today; she has proven that she can win at higher levels and with a clean trip she should be in contention for the win.  #3 Radiant Gem is dropping in class and likes to put in a good closing late kick, will be making her second start with new trainer Mark Passley.  #1 Basilia drops down significantly in class after not competing well at the level she was claimed; gets top jockey Irad Ortiz in the irons.  #5 Take the Podium won at the non winners of two level and steps up to the non winners of three today.  That victory last time out was first off a layoff, let’s see if she can continue to build off of that momentum.

Race 6 SELECTIONS:   8  –  2  –  3  –  4

#8 Continue Apace will make his U.S. debut for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. and get Lasix for the first time.  #2 One Fast Dream has good early speed but has yet to moderate it successfully, but if and when he does, he will be a contender.  #3 More Than Looks did not have an easy go of it in his debut, he started slow and ran up well before then retreating; with a better start today he could be a factor.  #4 Hidden Path is a first time starter for trainer Todd Pletcher; he is sired by Hard Spun, whose progeny run well on debut.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   2  –  3  –  5

#2 Spirit Wind returns from a long layoff to face a lower class of runners than she faced before the break; she has never been worse than second in her five career starts.  #3 Bluefield is a hard trying mare that took her game to a new level since moving over to the barn of Saffie Joseph Jr.; today she returns from a two months rest to face similar company as last time when she finished a close third place.  #5 Choose Joy will be running second off the layoff for owner-trainer Steven Dwoskin.  She is a versatile runner that has primarily run on the turf and occasionally run on the All-Weather to win, today she will attempt to win on the dirt.

Race 8 SELECTION:   5

#5 Megacity is the key to the sequence today, this eight year-old is in good form and seems to be lone speed; retains the services of Paco Lopez.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   3  –  4  –  1  –  10

#3 Forever Uncaptured has not been competitive at a higher claiming level but could have enough to win in today’s finale as she will be dropping in class.  #4 Novellie is another Saffie Joseph Jr. trainee; this filly ran a sneaky good race on debut last time out and could improve off of that effort.  #1 Drum Roll is a first time starter for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., sired by Maclean’s Music; she has a consistent workout pattern with some impressive times along the way.  #10 Beauty Destiny will make her first start for trainer Anna Meah after being claimed in February.  In her two prior starts she displayed good speed to be competitive at this level and the new barn could be what the doctor ordered.
