Late Pick 5
Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 4 – 8
#4 Cruzin Man should be able to make the lead easily and attempt to hang on late to get the victory, IF, no one is able to hook him early. I am not completely sure that will be the case. – Strong connections and the meets top jockey will not offer much value but has to be respected. #8 Famous Gent should get a good shot at the front runners from the outside position and has a good closing running style.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 1 – 9
#1 Saffron Moon is a versatile running filly trained by Chad Brown. Cutting back in distance and getting a fast dry turf course should help regain her winning ways. #9 Fast as Flight looked as if she needed a race last time out, when she did not fire well from the gate and just went around evenly. Second off the layoff and getting back to her preferred surface, looking for a strong rebound from this mare.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 6 – 3 – 5
#6 Skyro has many different factors going for him in this one and is a horse that I am excited to build some vertical wagers around as well. He runs very well at GP and is training lights out. #3 Conglomerate ships in from Woodbine for trainer Mark Casse. This gelding is in great form and has the running style that should do well coming from off the pace in a race where there is lots of early speed. #5 Beuys was very consistent for former trainer Brendan Walsh and now ships in for new trainer Michael Maker. The horse’s workout tab looks great and should be ready to put in a good showing in today’s ninth race.
Race 10 SELECTIONS: 9 – 4 – 10
#9 Gasoline Although he is running for top connections, trainer Todd Pletcher and will be ridden by jockey Irad Ortiz, this son of Curlin cannot be overlooked. He can be tactful, cutting back in distance and his latest workout indicates he is fit. #4 Blue Devil is a versatile runner that can press the pace and have enough in the tank to finish strong. He drops in class from two attempts at the grade two level going longer. #10 Steal Sunshine is a four-year-old Constitution colt that should have an opportunity to score at a big price; he will be doing his best running late and with a good trip should be able to create some Sunshine for those who backed him.
Race 11 SELECTIONS: 9 – 6 – 2
#9 Running Bee will be looking to make it three wins in a row for trainer Chad Brown. This well-bred son of English Channel will look to get to the front early and stay there. #6 Fort Washington is a turf specialist that will have ample distance to utilize his strong finishing kick. #2 Grand Sonata reunites with jockey Tyler Gaffalione and hopefully firm turf today, in an attempt to do what they did last time: WIN.
Today’s ticket .50 base (pre scratches) : 4,8 / 1,9 / 3,5,6 / 4,9,10 / 2,6,9 cost: $54
