On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Saturday(March 04, 2023) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 sequence:

Race 10 SELECTIONS:   6  –  7

#6 Endorsed is in very good form for trainer Micheal Maker and I think his running style should fit perfectly in today’s opening leg.  #7 Charge It opening speed figures are just off the charts, and he should be ready to go today as he will be running second off the layoff.  He will be a short price but is almost impossible to exclude from your horizontal plays.

Race 11 SELECTIONS:   3  –  4  –  11

#3 Speak of the Devil has been away from the races for eight months but is trained by Chad Brown who has repeatedly shown us that he can have a runner ready to go off a long break.  #4 White Frost is a Candy Ride mare that has various running styles and she is highly effective at both.  Although she is stepping up in class of her last start has successfully won at this level.  #11 Sweet Dani Girl returned from a long layoff to run in a Florida restricted stakes race back in January and her effort was solid; last spring she was competing at a high level against stronger.

Race 12 SELECTION:   3

#3 Red Carpet Ready is an undefeated filly trained by Rusty Arnold.  Her three victories are all impressive and she gets better and better after every start; hard to play against her and if she is just better than the others why not create some value by taking a stand and single.

Race 13 SELECTIONS:   1  –  2  –  7

#1 Highest Honor was a play against in my original race assessment, but as I begin to write about the other possibles, they all were not as good as this Chad Brown trainee.  #2 Master Piece will come running strong at the end of the race no doubt. the only question is pace, a must include.  #7 Astronaut has staying power and that will be important in competitive marathon like we have in today’s race thirteen; seems to be thriving at the longer distances.

Race 14 SELECTIONS:   1  –  6  –  7  –  9

#4 Forte was not included in my selections, but don’t be confused he is THE best horse in the field.  For the purpose of the pick 5 and our ticket structure I am going to exclude to increase our chances at a big score.

#1 General Jim has good versatile speed and has continued to improve, will be guided by jockey Luis Saez, who is riding very well.  #6 Blazing Sevens has not raced since the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile where he did not fare all that well but has the pedigree and connections to continue to improve.  #7 Mage ran like a monster on his debut earning a very good speed figure, was it a flash in the pan or could this son of Good Magic be a true contender?  #9 Cyclone Mischief has shown two levels of effort and they are on opposite ends of the spectrum, we will include him today and hope for the extremely good.

Let’s make it happen!!!
