On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Saturday(March 18, 2023) – John Pinder

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   3  –  6

#3 Super Chow has the speed and is not afraid to use it.  He is proven at this level and distance, his only recent lost was last time out when he was caught late but that was going 7Furlongs.  #6 Youbetterbejoking won professionally on debut but did not earn a big speed figure; is returning from a four month layoff for owner trainer George Weaver.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   2  –  9  –  10  –  11AE  –  12AE

#2 Clever Thought has never raced on the grass but in his lone start he pressed a slow pace and ran well at the end; runs for top connections.  #9 Camilo is a first time starter for trainer Jonathan Thomas, who continues to do well with debut runners.  #10 Bee Well speed figures have not been the flashiest but he is returning from a layoff and getting Lasix for the first time, reunites with jockey Tyler Gaffalione.  #11 (AE) King d’Oro should be considered if he reaches the starting gate.  Has run good races since moving over to the turf; excellent trainer jockey combination.  #12 (AE) Bel Ami is a well bred colt trained by turf wizard Christophe Clement.  Last time out in a similar race he closed very well and was only beaten by a neck; should be included if he makes the race.

Race 10 SELECTIONS:     2  –  3  –  5

#2 Astroturf drops down two classes and gets a new jockey.  #3 The Twins Sneakers won last time out earning a good speed figure for his new trainer Eduardo Castro.  Steps up in class and looks to keep the winning ways going for connections; jockey Miguel Vasquez remains in the irons.  #5 Moped Dennis moves to a new barn after being claimed 10 days ago to run back at the same level that he won; retains the services of jockey Luis Saez.

Race 11 SELECTIONS:   5  –  6  –  9

#5 Belgrano has good versatility for a sprinter and should be positioned well to take advantage of a contested pace.   #6 Yes I Am Free is in great form for trainer Laura Cazares and is two for two on the year.  #9 Big Invasion has not been to the races since last fall at Kentucky Downs, but he had one heck of a summer campaign; if he returns back to form he will be very competitive.

Race 12 SELECTIONS:   2  –  4  –  8  –  10

#2 Always Connected ran a good second place finish last time out and today many of the race variables will remain the same: distance, class level, jockey assignment.  #4 Outforarun is dropping in class and will run a shorter distance today.  She has shown good early speed but yet to sustain it; get the meets leading rider Irad Ortiz in the irons.  #8 Omo Ten Girl is dropping in class and switching from dirt to the All-Weather surface.  She has shown good early pace and will be running second off the claim for trainer Carlos Perez.  #10 Stepstones has flashed speed going longer which does not always translate well but we will be paid well if it does.

Let’s make it happen!!!
