On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Thursday(December 29, 2022) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 sequence:

Race 5 SELECTIONS:   10 –  5  –  4

#10 Imposter Syndrome looks like the one to beat in this spot, making his third career start this War Front gelding has shown good versatility in his running lines.   #5 Soupersilverdollar didn’t show much in his first start overall but showed interest late; was reluctant to load into the gate and was caught wide.  Second career start for trainer Mark Casse and gets jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. in the irons; won’t be a huge price but could be a mid-range odds runner with a solid chance.   #4 People Force has shown good speed early going longer on the All-Weather surface in both of his prior starts.  Today runs for a new barn and steps up in class but keeps the services of jockey Jose Ortiz.

Race 6 SELECTION:   3  –  1

#3 Kitten’s Spa is one of the logical candidates in a race where anything could happen.  Dropping in class with a recent bullet workout and getting Luis Saez in the saddle are all factors that help move this gelding to the top of the list.  #1 Thenorthremembers does his best running late which is not the preferred style on the All-Weather but is very consistent and should be in the mix with this group.

Race 7 SELECTION:  3

#3 Scarlet Stripe is the class of this group and unfortunately will reflect that in her price. This Gun Runner filly is dropping in class significantly after running in the mud last time out at Churchill Downs.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   1  –  4

#1 Lady Day is a well-bred filly making her second stateside start for turf wizard trainer Chad Brown.  She showed little in that race but we have seen this type of scenario too many times to be surprised.  #4 My Candy Girl is a hard-trying mare that brings consistency to a race where others may have potential, she still deserves a recommendation; even with a step up in class you know that this daughter of Twirling Candy will be close.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   5  –  10

#5 Karenville has been running well at this level for the owner trainer connection; this will also be the fourth consecutive mount for jockey Edgar Perez.  #10 Beautiful Star returns to the surface and level that she is more competitive at, also reunites with jockey Manny Jimenez.

Let’s make it happen!!!
