Late Pick 5

Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.  – Let’s make it happen!!!

Race 5 SELECTIONS:    5  –  1  –  7  –  8

#5 Dark Vector earned a very good speed rating last time out pressing a fast pace on the grass at the one mile distance but was no match for the winner.  Today this son of Bolt d’Oro will look to come close to that performance, rider change to Luis Saez.  #1 Delta Delta will be making his second lifetime start today for trainer Todd Pletcher.  This gelding has not been to the races for more than nine months, but did I mention that he is trained by Pletcher, who is statistically strong with long layoff runners and runners who attempt the turf for the first time.  #7 Broken Spur has not been to the races for more than nine months.  Trainer Bill Mott is doing well with runners coming off of long layoffs and the published workouts have gone from routine to “I am ready”!  #8 El Oro is a longshot candidate but the potential is there.  This gelding will be attempting the turf for the first time and will also be receiving Lasix for the first time.  His Dam has two winners from four starters and one turf winner; Tyler Gaffalione will be in the irons.

Race 6 SELECTIONS:   8  –  1

#8 Man On the Moon did not have his best on display last time out, but has earned some very good speed ratings in the past versus higher class levels.  #1 Earth last race was not indicative of his ability; he got into trouble and had to check in a 5.5Furlong sprint.  Today he drops in class and will be going 7Furlongs, chance for improvement.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   11  –  3  –  6

#11 Onenightstandards has proven his ability to handle the marathon distance but does his best with a decent pace in front of him, last time out he was definitely hindered by the slow fractions.  Today he will be reunited with jockey Irad Ortiz looking for redemption. #3 Dominate Themoment has good tactical speed and will be making his third start for a very solid turf trainer Garry Lee; Javier Castellano will be in the irons.   #6 Stat is always very competitive at the mile distance doing his best running late, could he stretch that late running stamina to a mile and half; retains the services of jockey Edgard Zayas for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   3  –  5

#3 Kitty Quick will be making her first start for new trainer Jose D’Angelo after being claimed back in December.  She has shown versatility in distance and surface and now after the rest and running for the new barn she also gets Lasix and the meet’s leading rider.  #5 Miss Vyvyanne will be running second off the layoff for the Tharrenos barn.  Her first race back she may have needed a race to return to form as she was in contention early and then tired; workout tab show consistent fast works since then.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   9  –  7  –  6

#9 Love Mami Love is a very competitive filly who will be running first off the claim for new owner trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.  Her speed figures have increased with every start and if that trend continues, she should graduate from the maiden ranks.   #7 Light and Path is a hard trying filly that almost achieved victory last time out but was caught late, slight cut back in distance at the same class level could help make the difference.  #6 Our Flag Flying is always near the winning photo but she has yet to be the center of attention; great pedigree and connections, she can’t be left off the ticket.

Today’s ticket cost .50 base (pre scratches) :   $72
