Late Pick 5 sequence:
Race 5 SELECTION: 1
#1 Downton Tabby is a lightly raced four-year-old running first time out for trainer Jose D’Angelo, who has excellent numbers with first off the claim runners. In her last start she displayed strong early speed and was able to pull away from the field with ease. Although she steps up slightly in class today, a similar performance as last time should win; any improvement for the new trainer makes her a clear winner.
Race 6 SELECTIONS: 8 – 5
#8 Assertiko is running second time out for trainer Bobby Dibona. This gelding has good early speed and should be competitive in this spot. Last time out he dueled for the lead early before relenting. #5 Tone Feelin is a hard-trying gelding that rarely finishes off the board, today he is stepping up in class for new trainer Colin Maragh. His speed figures are on par, that coupled with his tenacity makes him a longshot win candidate.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 1 – 10
#1 Lay the Groundwork was claimed away from Chad Brown and Klaravich stables last time out and will make her first start for trainer Mark Hening. Returns to the turf in this allowance race, has a good inside post position and should get a good trip; jockey Irad Ortiz will be in the irons. #10 Spider Belle will be coming from off the pace and attempting to close them down late. Her late running style should not be hurt too much by the outside starting position. She is running first time out for trainer Michael De Paulo who is stretching her out to a mile; the majority of her prior races were at the 6.5 and 7Furlong distances.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 7 – 1 – 2
#7 Hihellohowareyou won on debut last time out earning a solid speed figure. Today she gets Lasix and retains the services of jockey Jose Ortiz. #1 Jolly Miss Jill won a state-bred maiden race in professional fashion on debut for trainer Ralph Nicks. Today she gets Lasix for the first time, although she is facing a tough field, she has done nothing to discredit her chances. #2 Munnys Gold has been away from the races for seven months. Last seen at Monmouth in July, she won by fourteen; today she will run for top trainer Todd Pletcher.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 2 – 8 – 1
#2 Shes the North moves up in class after winning her last two, she is in great form for trainer Michael De Paulo and should be very competitive in this spot. #8 Dontmesswithtess has not been beaten by more than a few lengths in her last seven outings. Always competitive, she can’t be ignored. #1 Wicked Mercury is another competitive runner that will be around the photo for the win; gets a good inside post position draw and jockey Jose Ortiz in the saddle.
Let’s make it happen!!!
