Late Pick 5 Sequence
Race 8: SELECTIONS: 2 – 7
#2 Funnybet returns to the races after a two month layoff for trainer Dale Romans. Her speed figures have increased in all of her previous 6 starts, including her last two that were at a similar distance and a slightly higher class level. #7 Princess Betty is running competitive races at the right level. She has not missed the board at this class level in her 3 attempts and is 3 for 7 lifetime overall; top jockey Irad Ortiz stays in the saddle for trainer Ruben Gracida.
Race 9: SELECTIONS: 12 – 8 – 2 – 7
#12 Omnia The drop in class coupled with her early speed will insure that this 4 year-old daughter of Munnings will be a part of the early pace without a doubt. If she can secure the lead she will be a factor, with Saez aboard her changes to do so are increased. #8 Scatnap does her best running against a fast pace and should get that in this race. Won last time out with at a similar level and retains the services of jockey Corey Lanerie. #2 Hoponthebusgus has been a popular name in the claim box lately; this 7 year old mare once again is owned by Grank Carl Balabrese, trained by Saffie Joseph. She has been in 4 different barns in the last 2 years and always puts in a good effort at this level on the turf. #7 Aerodynamic last race was not impressive but if you go back to this time last year this mare was rock solid, looking for a return to form for a trainer that does excellent with layoff from 46-90 days.
Race 10: SELECTIONS: 5 – 7
#5 Structor returns to the races after more than a year layoff. There is no doubt that this 4 year old colt is talented as he was undefeated as 2 year- old, winning the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Turf. Cant leave off your ticket. Many people will single in this leg using Structor. Deepening on your opinion in other races and budget, its not a bad notion. #7 Ever Dangerous has shown the ability to be versatile and win under different pace scenarios. He has not raced since November of last year, but seems to do well after returning from a rest.
Race 11: SELECTIONS: 5 – 2 – 7
#5 Mischevious Alex ran a monster of a race last time out for his new trainer of Saffie Joseph Jr. He had always shown promise and ability in the past but this last race was a new level. Was it the cutback in distance or the new barn? Today he will have both of those factors on his side and looks to repeat the same outcome. #2 Shivaree is cutting back in distance after a year of attempting to take his rivals gate to wire in route races. #7 Frosted Grace is one of the few runners in the field that is a sprint specialist and likes to close from off the pace.
Race 12: SELECTIONS: 7 -12 – 3 – 10
#7 Performing Arts retains the services of top jockey Irad Ortiz in the saddle for his second race, after just coming up short in his debut last time out. Bred to run on turf this colt is trained Brian Lynch whos barn is doing very well at the meet. #12 Bracken is well-bred Speighter colt that looks to put it all together today as he has run well in both his starts. Trying turf for the first time his Dam has produced a turf winner. #3 Floriform is the most experience runner of the group, who just missed last time out going a route of ground on the turf. This 3 year-old Into Mischief colt is trained by Bill Mott who does excellent with the conditions of this colt and this race, 2nd of the layoff, 2nd time Lasix. #10 El Socio debuted on the turf going a mile and one sixteenth and finished up very well after a bad start where he hopped. Has had a recent sharp workout and gets Saez in the irons; improvement looms.
