Parx Full Card Plays

Race 1

#6 Reach for Thestars is 2nd time out for the Penny Pearce barn after being claimed from Ed Coletti Jr. in her debut for 25K. They tried this horse off the claim in MSW company and she didn’t produce. However, they are dropping her back into this level but without the tag which is interesting. Dexter Haddock gets the call today and I like this move by the connections to put him on this horse. This is also by far the weakest field she has faced to date. Should be able to win today.

Race 2

#2 Chancee should get the perfect trip here today. This field is very weak, and Adam Bowman has a really good chance of sitting directly off the pace or even getting the lead himself. This horse’s best days are behind her just like the rest of the field but she is still showing some fight in some of her recent races which I think is key.

Race 3

#6 One Nation was claimed off Penny Pearce and is now running for Jamie Ness and Jagger Inc. Jamie Rodriguez is also scheduled to come ride this horse, yet I have a feeling he might be staying in Delaware today so who will ride this horse is up in the air in my opinion. If Jamie Rodriguez does show up for this horse, this makes him even more live in my opinion. Regardless I think this horse improves in the barn switch.

Race 4

#5 Goldenlineof should have some pace to run at today and with 3 of the 8 horses in this field scratching, he should have a cleaner trip. Ruben Silvera sticks with this horse today after running 3rd with him last time out. They are also dropping this horse from 12,500N4L to 7500N4L. If the 1 and the 4 duel early, and he can sit 3rd, this horse could be running away with it down the stretch.

Race 5

#1 Koan should get a good set up on the rail today. The #5 and #7 should set a quick pace and if Angel Castillo can get a clean trip and a good set up, he should have a decent amount of pace to run at today. Koan does like the distance and a fast track which he gets today. He is in really good form and he will have some value today which I like. He should be tough.

Race 6

#1 Mass Appeal should press the pace today and there isn’t much pace to press. Usually in these “paceless” races at Parx, some of the jockeys tend to try and steal the race. So this race could have more pace then a casual handicapper would see on paper. This could lead to Mass Appeal being closer than one would think and having a decent pace set up to run into. I think the jockey upgrade from Luis Rivera to Jorge Gonzalez is also a good angle.

Race 7

#4 E T’s Super Star is a longshot play today. This horse has improved a ton over the two starts and I think this horse could surprise today. If Jermaine Burke could keep this horse closer then the past two starts, this horse could make a run at the money. However, this horse is green and still learning so it will be tough.

Race 8

#3 They Shot Sonny is in really good form right now for Jamie Ness and I think this race fits this horse very well. The Delaware races could have just been this horse loving the surface over there, but I think the 2nd at Parx 3 races ago also can win this race. Ruben Silvera takes the call and I think this horse will show up today.

Race 9

#5 Tonal Vision’s debut at Parx was lost to Beto’s Girl who has turned into a strong filly and that is promising for this filly. Ruben Silvera sticks with the horse and there should be enough pace for this horse to sit a good pressing trip today as well. This horse was more forwardly placed last time out and the better result was a result of that in my opinion. I wouldn’t be surprised if the connections tell Ruben to sit close again today.

Race 10

#8 Unbridled John is now in the Jamie Bravo-Estrada barn after he claimed this gelding off of Howard Brown Jr. last time out. Jamie Bravo bumps this horse in class and adds his go to jockey in Dexter Haddock today. I think this horse coming off a win in the beaten 7500, and in the restricted races but for 12,500 shows they have some hope in this horse to win off the claim. They also might not want to lose the horse right away so they might have raised the tag a tad for that reason. Regardless, I think this horse can get the trip and could produce a big effort.
