Parx Racing 3/22/21
Race 1- 1M OC25K/SAL25K
#6 And Seek is shipping in from Laurel and gets Ruben Silvera as his rider today. I think the distance suits him and I actually think the Parx surface is his preferred surface. Ruben should be able to get him home today in front.
#4 Mithra is coming in off a 2 month layoff and he was improving before the layoff. Mychel sticks with the horse and I think this is a good spot for him. I think he needed some rest and should be fresh today.
#2 Alfatei gets Angel Castillo back today after Mychel Sanchez took the mount of the #4. Angel should have him close to the lead and if he does he could get the best trip in this race. Maybe today can be the day.
Race 2- 7F MCL25000
#1A Holiday Raid is a first time starter and also has solid breeding. Along with solid breeding, this field isn’t much. Her workouts have been strong and I think if she can break good she should be tough in this spot.
#8 Lady Ryan should improve 2nd time out for Ramon Martin. She gets lasix for the first time and they stretch her out in distance. I think the experience under her belt will also help. I think today there will be a much needed improvement.
#6 Shetalkstomuch drops in class and to a level that still might be tough but definitely suits her better. She could be sitting on a huge effort with the drop in class here today. I think she is a solid piece underneath.
Race 3- 6F OC25K/SAL25K
#1 Borderline Genius was moved from the John Servis barn and into Butch Reid’s barn. Since moving over to the new barn, she has produced a bullet work about a week ago. Frankie Pennington keeps the mount and I think she will be sitting closer today.
#2 Our Dixie Blue is in for Jamie Ness and Ruben Silvera. This horse should be close to the lead if not on it. She is also dropping in class and is in for the tag today. I think the return to Parx and the drop to a level she can produce at is all she needs to get back to the winners’ circle.
#4 Originally From Dot is now in the Marya Montoya barn after shipping from Laurel to Parx about a month ago. She had been competing really well against this same level at Laurel. Now she gets Mychel Sanchez and gets to try a new surface that she might take well too.
Race 4- 6 1/2F MCL10K
#11 Del Po was way to wide last time out and was bumped around during the race last time out. That field was tough compared to this field and I think today he should be better here. If Silvestre can sit closer today he could give him the perfect trip.
#1 J Wass is dropping in class and has been close in the last two starts this year. He flattened out last time out and the drop in class is needed. However, I don’t like the ML here for him. I still think he has a legitimate shot in here.
#12 Our Uncle Drew almost got home in front last time out but got tired late. He cuts back in distance today and I think the apprentice will have him close to the lead. If he can benefit from the cut back in distance, I think he has a great shot in here.
Race 5- 6F CLM7500N2L
#1 Greenback was claimed last time out for Harold Wyner and in that race, Greenback broke his maiden for the bottom level. Ruben Silvera stays with the horse today and I think he is just the best in this field.
#3 Freedom Force is dropping in class and is now in the Michael Moore barn. He ships in from New York and looks to get back on track here. He seems to be a horse that needs the lead or he doesn’t try. I think Mychel Sanchez will see that and use it to his advantage today.
#5 I Saw It All has been fighting at this level the last two starts. I think if he can get a clean trip, he could upset here. This field is really weak and I think that he has shot at 5/1ML.
Race 6- 1M 70 Yards ALW25000s
#2 First Citizen is in amazing form for Jamie Ness. Ever since they claimed this horse at Keenland and brought him to Parx, it’s been uphill since. A really good sign is that Jamie Ness put Mychel Sanchez aboard this one and they hit at 55%. I think he goes gate to wire here today.
#7 Glory Song is the other Jamie Ness horse in this race. Ruben Silvera stays with this one which is interesting. I think personally this is going to be a cold Ness-Ness exacta today. This horse prefers to run 2nd as of late and might have the seconditis.
#5 Naugthy Prince is in 2nd off the claim for Miguel Penaloza. Today Miguel takes the blinkers off of him and they add Angel Castillo as the rider. I think he will try to go to the lead today and should like the equipment change.
Race 7- 6 1/2F OC16K/SAL16k
#2 This Round’s Mine just went gate to wire last time out and gets a slight cut back in distance which I think she prefers. She might also really like Parx and finally have found her type of run style.
#1 New Jersey won two races ago in a restricted condition. Then she ran in this same race but for 25K and finished 3rd. She drops a tad in class and should be sent early from the rail and I think personally she will improve today.
#6 I Know I Can Dance is looking to stay in the right direction. Mike Aro has this horse in good shape and I think she is capable of winning at this level. Adorno has given her two great rides and hopefully he can give her a third.
Race 8- 1M OC50K/N1X
#2 Nobody Knew just won against open 40K claimers at Laurel and has been facing tougher lately. I think Jomar Torres will press the leaders and make one run in order to win. Claudio wouldn’t ship here if he didn’t think he had a shot.
#3 Indian Lake was game last time out against similar. Ruben keeps the mount here and should be sending early to try and get him on the lead. If he gets the lead to himself it will be hard for him to be caught.
#1 Smokum Peace Pipe is in 2nd off the layoff and John Servis is really good with this angle. He should be close to the lead but could get out there fast breaking from the rail. Frankie Pennington stays with him and I like that move as well.
Race 9- 6F ALW8000s
#4 Federal Case dominated last time out for Lou Linder against N4L bottom level company. Now he has to face open company and is in for Jamie Bravo-Estrada who claimed him last time out. I think this horse is in great form and the raise up in class shouldn’t be too tough.
#10 Happyascanb rallied well last time out and they bump him up in class today. I think Mychel Sanchez hopping aboard is the telltale sign that this horse is ready to roll. I think depending on where he is at on the backstretch will determine if he wins or not. It is all about positioning and tripping out for him.
#7 E J’s Revenge is my longshot play here. In an open 5k claimer he almost won and was claimed by Eli Betancourt. He has faced this company before and used to actually prove himself at this level. I think the return to the level will produce a good result and at a price.
Race 10- 6F CLM5000N1Y
#3 The Italian ran huge last time out off of the claim for Carlos Soto. I took him in that field as a longshot play and it panned out like I thought it would. I think today he will improve again and he will be a shorter price if Navin can give him a similar trip.
#1 Pharaoh’s City gets Angel Castillo back and is back in the Ronald Abrams barn. Abrams had him running well at the beginning of last year and now he returns to their barn and Angel Castillo keeps the mount. I think 9/2 would be a gift on him and I would recommend playing him at those odds.
#10 Huya only has a serious chance if he can get to the lead by himself. I trust Laprida to try his best to have that happen. He hasn’t been the same since coming back to the races in December but maybe today is the day and I love the price we will get on him.
